All the fish in a lake or river won't all spawn at the same time, so if you are fishing it is not a waste.
I think we as anglers get too worried about spawn, turnover, blooms .... If you have a bait in the water you have a better chance of catching a muskie than if you don't have a bait in the water. |

| Zach, concentrate on yer studies buoy!  Here in the south, spawning takes place when the suckers begin their annual run up the creeks; 'bout the time peeps here start to do the same thing...could there be a connection?  |

| The females will drop some eggs and several days to weeks later they will drop some more, Mother natures way of getting some of the eggs to hatch.(safety thing) and all fish don`t spawn at the same time and all watersheds dictate different spawn temps. At 55 deg. in most areas I fish it is already post-spawn for a major part of the fish population. These big fish will spawn in water colder then most realize. |

Location: Holly, MI | Can somone confirm for me this rumor I heard once..
Pike spawn in colder water than Muskies in general. So..This possably means several things..
1) Natural Pike/Muskie hybrids (tigers) are rare in some waters (or most) even when pike and Muskie co-habitate.
2) Baby pike could be big enough by the time Muskie fry are born to feed on them if the pike spawn soon enough.
any thoughts on these ramblings would be appriciated. |
