| I was at Cabelas today, looking for a new jerkbait rod. In the past, its been G-Loomis since day one, so I figured it was going to be between their 6'3" and 6'6" jerkbait rod. Which one would you guys suggest? I got talking with one of the guys there about rods, and he suggested and showed me the All Stars. The Ex. Heavy 6'3" All Star seem slightly lighter duty than the Loomis', and was also a great deal lighter in weight. (a weight that would make a difference when casting big jerks for 14 hours straight) The guy also said that the All Star had a lifetime warranty just like G Loomis. For this type of equipment, I don't mind shelling out a few extra bucks here, but there is $85 difference between the Loomis and AS. Quality wise, is there $85 dollars difference between the two rods? Does anyone have any suggestions? Would I be paying for the Loomis name?
Thanks the help boys, its greatly appreciated,

| A few years ago I had Thorne Bros. make me a 8'6" bucktail rod from a All Star blank and I love it. I really don't think that quality is a issue here. The rod is light and extremely sensitive. (at least sensitive enough for muskie fishing). The All State rods looked to be good and well priced, however I would like the 6'6" rod for throwing jerk bait. This is just me, I seem to favor longer rods. | |
