Location: Athens, Ohio | I just read an Alabama resident was ejected from his boat, which then ran back over him. He was wearing neither a Life Jacket (PFD) nor was he using the emergency cut off lanyard that would have prevented him being struck. he died at the hospital.
I've heard officers are checking for the cut off switch now a days, be safe out there this season. m | |

| A few years back, two guys were ejected from a 16' fishing boat in front of my place, Neither had a PDF and it was an older boat with no kill switch. My brother-in-law and I jumped in my pontoon and I ran it into the boat which was going in circles with one guy desperately hanging on. We got it stopped and got them onboard with no injuries except to panels on the pontoon. I went to town and bought quality carabiner clips and attached them to my kill switch lanyards. I have a routine where I start the motor, then clip the kill switch to my PDF before putting it in gear. Think I could do that in my sleep. That cheap, thin metal snap on kill switch is a piece of crap and I will not trust my life to it. Have this on both my 90hp tiller and my 15 hp kicker. Whichever is in use, that is clipped to my PDF. | |
