I'm up in Vilas County and was out Monday (10/20) and had water temps of 54/55 on two larger, deep, clear lakes. I have some locals telling me turnover already happened on some lakes; other reports saying it should kick off by this weekend.

I am supposed to take some buddies out fishing this weekend, however with work I can't get out again before that. What's everyone been seeing in the Oneida/Vilas areas?

This has been a really warm fall. During a normal year turnover would have been 2 weeks ago. Everything is late this year.
Thanks!

Temps on the shallow chain I live on in Oneida were closer to 60 this weekend. We have a crew that takes out each other's docks/lifts and everyone remarked on how warm the water was. But, cooler nights should be dropping it.

My lakes did a slow turnover with the warm temps the last few weeks. It's over.

Just saw a post from Rob Manthei who guides on the St. Germain lakes and he said turnover is just about done there. This time of the year, he is out musky fishing every day with clients. so he has a good idea of what is happening.
