Fellas, I need some suggestions on how to get around the mess on Bishop Ford and Borman with the new construction. I know I can take 30 all the way, but it will increase time travel tremendously. Will 912, 312, 394 or 41 get me on the Indiana tollway, Skyway is also under construction. Any suggestions? Thanks, Al

Alan: I can't get you to the Toll Road but I can tell you once you are on the Toll Road it is much faster then taking 65 to 30. Take the Toll Road to Rt 49 south to Valpo and pick up 30 there.

Either 912 (Cline Ave) or 41 will run into the toll road. You can take 294 it will run you into the Borman though, to Cline (912) North and pick up Toll Road or exit 94 at Torrence Ave. North. Take Torrence to 159th and go east to Calumet Ave. Go norht on Calumet to pick up Toll Road. 312 (Chicago Rd.) will also run into the Toll Road.

Alan, your travel time doesn't change a ton if you take 30 all the way... Might add a half hour except on holiday weekends.. Right now as the bormen looks the contruction shouldn't be any worse then it has been the last ten years... As for the Toll road to 49.. definitely saves a few minutes over going through merriville. Not sure what construction they got planned for the bormen yet... what are you guys hearing? I also can't understand why they would have construction on the main alternate route you would use instead of the borman..but then it has been the same for ten years now. If the construction is not on either of those two it is on 30 instead.... sometimes its on all of them... Anyone got a helicopter I could borrow to go to my cottage? Almost forgot, there are two ways you can catch us30 from alsip, one is to take 294 to 394 and catch 30 off of 394. The other is head out on 57 to 30 which may be longer... Or like someone else said...leave early..lol..

Or blow off IN and discover what IL has in store for us. Over 30 lakes are in the stocking program now. Many are just as close as IN lakes.

Yeah right, blow off some of the best muskylakes in the U.S. to fish the IL mudholes. I don't think so! LOL

Ok, had the oppurtunity to see the lovely new road construction. Avoid the bormon. Take 30 from 394. 30 also has construction through plymouth at the bridge.

i have the wonderful pleasure of living right smack dab in the middle of all of this fine mess in lansing il. and i refer to it as the smelly armpit of america!!! i cant remeber a year in my life when the borman wasnt being worked on, for a 10 mile stretch of road its amazing that they have spent 30 years working on it, and never finished it. to further the problem we have the bottleneck of 294 where 394 crosses, just to create further road rage. this whole system is a joke!!! now that im done venting. i havnt been out to webster yet this year, but in past years i usally leave early and make sure i try to travel it at off peak times, taking rt 30 is also an alternate but that can be just as stupid with 3000 stop lights, and usally at least one lane closer per weekend, somewhere along that stretch also. i havnt found a reliable way around any of it yet and i think ive tried every way imaginable. i usally just get off the expressway wherever it starts to back up and weave my way through frontage roads or sub divisions to get around it, that also takes alot of time, if you are thinking of getting off the expressway, just dont think about trying ridge road, because if your thinking of it so are about 1000 other vehicles and ive seen that backed up as much as the expressway at times. good luck!!
