closer examination revealed that it was not a mouse-chewed wire which caused my motor to go "poof."

it was me attaching the leads to the wrong poles on the battery...

which leaves me with no convenient rodent to blame, other than myself. and it will also leave my neighborhood marina a few dollars richer.

Are you sure the rodent didn't chew off the red and black shrink tubing on the battery leads? Or perhaps that little prick chewed a "+" where the "-" was, and vice-versa! LOL
