I don't mean to harp here, but there is a reason the 50" size limit didn't get passed last year! Everyone please look at the question #57 for the CC spring meetings this April 12 and go and vote NO!!! This could have a huge impact on fishing in the future if passed. It amazes me that so very people have viewed the post "Question 57 - Trophy Management (Wis CC meetings)"! The word needs to get out on this so it does NOT pass.

Perhaps it just hasn't been viewed as much because it's posted on other boards as well. I hope that is the case.

The issue is definitely important but regional, of great interest to those who fish or live in Wisconsin. One might argue the 'domino theory' might apply here, but I can't imagine the question would even be asked in Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan,or out East.

Call me pessimistic, but how is a group that only consists of about 10% of the total anglers supposed to win a state-wide vote?

If every WI resident that regularly fishes for muskie votes no, would that be enough to sway the result?

Just curious what everyone thinks.....

For me the question is would a person from Illinois be able to vote on this, and if so how? Would I have to drive up to somewhere in Wisconsin or could I do it by mail? If there was a way we could all voice our opinions on this by signing a petition at the fishing shows or something like that... Afterall, let's say we had the ability to vote on this at all the musky shows this year. How many people came through the doors at Harper College(Tri-Esox)? What about the Extreme Shows? The various other Musky or Fishing shows? I think we coulda got a serious vote count from those shows. But I never here anything about how or where to vote, only that we should vote this way or that way. I did read the post..maybe not here but somewhere as I have seen it on three websites(next bite, here and 101).

Jason,

I think if us "young guns" can out number the guys set in their ways I say yes we can sway the results. If we can each organize a group of buddies to go to our respective counties to vote, it could make a big difference. Keep in mind this question doesn't come out and specifically state trophy musky management. Walleye, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Pike, and Lake Trout are all going to be affected by this.

This won't have any direct affect on my life one way or another. But, even if you don't WIN, you have to show up, and voice your opinion. That's how progress get's started. Wow, that sounded patriotic... need cigarette now.

Don't make the mistake of age-stereotyping, please! I won't even bother to point out how wrong the assumption is.

I apologize as I did not intend to age stereotype. The reason I indicated "young guns" is because I assume a lot of the younger generation is unaware of these meetings, and don't attend them. I am well aware of the "older" crowd that have the same views as us "younger" guys. Us "younger" guys need to get involved to help build a better future for our sport because we won't always have the older generation around to rely on.

I appreciate your passion Travis!! I just hope that we have a better turnout from likeminded people at this one than we had last spring for the 50". It was very disheartening last year to see how few people cared enough to even bother showing up to vote. If you do have an opinion on this one, and I think all of us that regularly use this board do, please show up and let your vote be counted.

I guarantee you the "meat hunters" will be there in full force.

It is important to rely on the studies by fisheries biologists. While many anglers have a bad idea of DNR employees you must realize: These people don't make alot of money or work bankers hours, they work because they love the fish and the fisheries. By supporting their findings and educating ourselves on the subject, we may find suprising facts. I believe in individual lake management which in turn, means both raising and lowering size limits on some waters. Perhaps too, there is room for slot limits?

Hey guys, I am planning on driving up to a county and voting. You guys need to make sure that every M.I club in wisconsin is adressing this and telling it's membership to get out and vote.
