Location: Athens, Ohio | Nixon ended the draft a couple weeks before I turned 18, but both mom and dad served in the Army in WWII, meeting during the Occupation of Japan. His dad was first generation American from Germany, and he served America against the Kaiser in WWI. Many thanks to them and all the rest. m |

Location: Brighton CO. | My dad was a Veteran (he did four years in the Air Force and seven years after that working on military airplanes as a civilian)as part of a long career as a defense/AeroSpace Engineer. And if he was alive we would be heading to Applebee's for a free dinner for vets. In the 60's living in SO. Cal. lots of relatives from both sides of the family would come home to our house on leave for the weekend from the Naval base in San Diego. Good times. |

| Culvers is an excellent partner for non-profits and school groups. Went there for dinner tonight because the retired teacher group my wife belongs to was having a fundraiser. After we ate, one of the retired teachers who was bringing food to guests said to me and the other guy at my table, also an Army vet, "hey, they are giving vets small sundaes tonight". So, we each got one and split with our wives. Thought that was nice. And the teachers hope to raise enough to give a small scholarship to someone going to school to be a teacher.
Last year the local high school's cross country teams got all new equipment and uniforms from their night at Culver's. Their assistant coach was stunned how much money they raised. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | One of the bright spots of any of my trips Up-Nort' is eating at a Culvers. They finally got one now as far south as Columbus, but I find their version of fast food to be a bit more edible than other chains. I shy from the curds, tho. m |

Yeah, if you live in WI like I do, lots of better options for cheese curds. The one seasonal special Culver's has that I don't plan on trying is their cheddar burger. Essentially a giant cheese curd on a bun with fixings. Last night I had their chicken cashew salad. Pretty good for fast food. |

A Culver's recently opened right across the interstate from the Asheville NC Airport, Stopped in for a double cheeseburger yesterday as a matter of fact. Still no fountain drinks due to water utility issues, but a can of Dr. Pepper worked well.
There's also a couple locations in Knoxville, and four more along I-75 in KY.. too bad the nearest White Castle is in London KY.

Location: Brighton CO. | The first time we ate at a Culvers was in the mid to late 90's in Minocqua and I probably had a Buter Burger, not long after that I started seeing them pop up around metro Denver. In 2007 I took a job at a place and then a Culvers popped up a half mile from work. I would stop in from time to time then when Lent hit it was Walleye every Friday. |
