This year on LOTW I had an issue with my trolling motor plug. I was using a Navico plug at the time seemed to be quality plug. My issue was when taking the plug in and out of the receptacle, the receptacle fell apart due to a small retaining screw loosening. I have since glued it to get through the season but want to get a more robust plug. I am running a 24volt Minn Kota Terrova 80 # thrust. Maximum amp draw is supposed to be 50 amps. My boat has 6 gauge wires running back to the batteries. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I apologize, the Marinco is the one I bought. I just checked on my Amazon account. There is a small single screw on the receptacle side that retains a plastic flange which in turn holds the "sockets" for the pins to go in. Regardless, thank you for replying.

I had a Marinco plug partially melt with my 80# Ultrex. Upgraded to this one. MKR-28 trolling Motor Plug and Receptacle. A bit expensive but more solid connection and easy to swap TMs if I need to.

Most failures with electrical connections are due to high resistance connections. Check the terminals are tight once a year in the winter and you won’t have issues. It doesn’t matter what type of connection, they all should be verified. Undersized wiring for the amp draw can also be a contributor. Wire charts are critical.

Thank you for the replies. Looking at the MKR-28. One thing I saw in the question and answer area was it needs 5" of depth for the receptacle, I will need to see if I have that much room. If going this route, I would like to get another trolling motor end plug to connect it up to my back up trolling motor. Again, thank you for your help gentlemen.
