just got home from the Madison MI chapter's musky school - well done!

i got to see steve's presentation on the sonics of various lures underwater and it's very surprising what's making noise/what's not and what kinds of sounds different lures are putting out. gives you alot to think about in planning presentations for conditions.

i went to the poolside demo and saw alot of good stuff: how to work a bunch of different baits - the DDD looks awesome - and a great bit on how to do a good figure 8. steve ran a Wabull for awhile too...nice!!!

i also hit the class on fishing the madison area and ramped up my "local knowledge" with a couple of the area insiders.

to top it off, we got apple pie ala mode with lunch, i won a Burt in the raffle, and i got to touch one of those ViolentStrike Monster buzz-baits... Steve, isn't that considered cruel and unusual punishment to taunt people with the unattainable like that???

great day - very well run!

The Madison Muskies Inc School was a complete success. About 70 anglers attended the all day event featuring Poolside instruction, classroom, and clinics. Lunch was very good, and as lambeau (good meeting you, sir!)mentioned, so was the pie and ice cream. Door prizes were excellent, and the raffle table great. Two All Star rods, one with a SHimano reel, were top raffle prizes. Sue won a Jerko and a Slippery Sam.

I picked up a couple SWEET topwaters, including one from Lee and a couple BS Willys that Sue thinks are going to put a few in the net for Rhinelander Muskie league next season. Lee showed me a few new tricks, and Donny Hunt did too.

I had a great time thanks to the Madison Chapter Muskies Inc, a class group!!

This is the first year that I made it to the Musky school and I would go again. It was well worth the 25 dollars. The Instrustors were all very nice as well as most of the students. They did a very good job at answering all questions asked. In fact the class on how to Make your own baits ran over 10-15 min. But it was well worth the information. The only problem is I would have liked to go to some of the other classes, but you can only be at one place at a time. ( should have brougt the girlfriend to take notes in other classes) The underwater sounds were great. I couldn't get over that you could hear Steve above the water as clear as day.If all goes good it sounds like it will be bigger and better next year.So I hope I will meet more of you next year at the school.

CCMI did a very fine job agan this year. Each year it just gets better and better. If you can get to the school next year you will not be disapointed. Steve's under water talk alone was worth the trip. thank's steve for driving thru a foot of snow to get down to talk. Every class had a lot to offer, as wood said it is to bad you cant take all of the classes in. After watching Steve run the violentstrike buzz bait in the pool you have to have some. very fine bait. My son and I are looking to make some baits together after taking the crank bait class. Apple pie with icecream to top off a great meal it dont get much better.

Thanks again Steve... I always enjoy your perspective on muskies and muskie fishing. The hydrophonic tapes were great. I had heard them once before but I sure am glad you dug past the Black Sabbath to find the originals! Thanks for your support.Craig Eversoll

Many thanks to Steve Worrall, Donnie Hunt, Lee Tauchen, Scot Stewart, Jerry Georgeson, Jim Olson, Scott Hassett, Bill Wood, Gary Neubauer (Gander Mountain GPS expert)John Eversoll, Denny Lytle, Duffy Knopf, Kevin Witt, Craig Eversoll, Steve Reinstra, Ron Schell, John Spencer, Kevin Wegner, Gerard Hellenbrand, Dan Reim and many others. These guys put a ton of hard work into preparing for and giving their presentations and making all the arrangements necessary to pull this off. The CCMI 3rd annual muskie school evaluations are being analyzed right now by my son who has a number of stat classes under his belt - (he's up at UW-Steven Point). He is striving to make sure that the Standard deviations, Means, Medians etc... are all factored in and considered carefully before the results are published. From my review of the anecdotal infomration on the evaluations - (comments and remarks) it sure looks like people got something out of it. Many respondents listed the poolside demonstrations, "Supercharge Your 2004 Season" including sonics presentation by Steve, the row trolling/trolling and the making crankbaits, fishing the Madions chain, Muskie behavior, quicksets sessions as being particularly valuable.

I think most everyone seemed to have a good time and came away with some new ideas and feel more perpared and excited about the upcoming season.

It was a useful and fun day!

Results are in - 96% rated the school at either "Very Good" or "Good" and many participants would like to see CCMI do another program next year. The CCMI Board will decide about a 2005 program at the April Board meeting.

Many favorable comments came in regarding the "Underwater sonics" presentation that Steve Worrall made as well as the poolside demonstratioins, making your own crankbaits, row & power trolling, sucker rigs, sonar, and fishing the Madison Chain. The instructors cumulative experience Muskie fishing was over 390 years. Their knowledge was apparent as was their willingness to share what they have learned over all those years with fellow anglers. The volunteer instructors put a ton of time and preparation in the school which was gratly appreciated by the student body.

Now all we have to do is wait 52 days so we can start applying these ideas. It won't be long now!

I think They should do Two schools 1 in the spring and 1 in the fall. They could also use the one in the fall to hand out their yearly awards. This would also give the winners more recogition. It would also be a good time for everyone to brag or cry about the past season.
