We've decided to hit the spillway tomorrow afternoon. Anybody have any suggestions as to what we ought to throw, and where? We're really hoping to bag that first muskie of '04 and get the season started right, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

Hi all my 1st time on MuskyFirst - not really aiming these big guys cause am not yet in their class, but went fishing for Perch at the spillway this morning in the most miserable weather ever!!!

Ghusts up to 40mph!!! Snow and freezing rain and windchills in the negatives... I only had 2 Perch and then the Crocodiles moved in!
There was no way to fish bottom, spinner or bobber they all hit it regardless of the baits - even waxies on a marmooska ice jig! What I can say is that even with Muskies there is a thing like 2nd chance when your niche is on top of the food Pyramid...

Whatever bit this guy was a BIG FISH!
Jake's on a Marmooska...
My buddy Jake of Milwaukee was over for the weekend and finaly got him on some fish cause it has just been miserable for him. Last night on the way back from Castle Rock Dam his hood popped and cracked his windshield on the Escort he has and the dude is leaving for service in Germany in a month... Well when it rains it pours. I had to ride back 10miles in search for him looking through all the ditches and finally saw him walk towards my place... Wish him best of luck in Europe and no "dashes" East of there...;)

Tigers? I didn't know Shelbyville had tigers!?!? When did the state start stocking tigers? Were you guys under the bridge? It looks like you were maybe by the Spillway Motel? What were you guys throwing and how big was that tiger of your buddy's?

My fault, didn't see you had said "Dells Fall." Had me confused there for a minute...

My fault, pal, I usually remember to disclose exact location, sorry for all confusion, that pic actually was taken under the Briggsville spillway where we got the Perch really well lately but today there is no sigh of the Perchys... Guess they are all spawned out and back downstream - obviously followed by the predators certainly wish Muskies were open to target there but alas that is a few months ahead. As to size we did not want to play around with our luck so we let them go safely right after the snapshots. Guesstimate 30ish in inches. Bore a hole in our other buddy's landing net LOL.
Actually went back tonight cause I did not want to believe that the Perch are gone! Was I glad I did!
First shark I fough was a QuailBack

And then it started! Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam! 3 Tigers in a row!
1st @ 1725

2nd @ 1730

3rd @ 1750

I was so happy I forgot that the target were Perch. I hooked something HUGE about 1830 but after a 5min fight lost it... After leaving 3 spinners to snags I gave up and went back to my bebbers - all I got were 5 Perch of which I kept 4 9-10"ers.

Took a lot less than the daily bag but managed to fill a garbage bag of... garbage spent the extra 30mins to clean up the place from what everyone left there over ...hmmmmm...the years!?

All waste I left were the lures I donated to the bottom...
Well I could say I am a happy angler although they are smallish 3 Muskies in a row always count

Fished 0815-0945 this morning. Scott called me cause he finally hooked into The Monster 38" Tiger! I wish there was a way for him to keep it in the water until I made it there to take its pic! Nevermind we slammed the Perch! We hooked into over 150 fish in a matter of less than 2hrs!
