Any ideas where I could get straight stainless steel wire about 18-19 inches long.

I think 15" is about as long as you can buy that I have seen. Hagensfish is where I get it from. You.can always buy the coil and straighten it which is what I do.

Buy some stainless steel tig welding rod! Lots of diameters available and cheap (compared to lure building specific stuff). Get it at any welding/hardware place! The place I guy it from says a lot of people that buy it are using it for crafts and other purposes.

Mason Wire made in Michigan:

Great stuff. I use SSBRI11-4 and SSBRI12-4

Each is enough for a 2 lifetimes for $17.

E-Bay is a good place to find straight wire shafts. I've bought them up to 24" but not sure of a seller to recommend. Just be careful as not all stainless wire is suitable for use in a muskie lure. The stuff I use is .062 or heavier spring wire and is not very easy to bend.
