A little about the MMCT and it's focus for 2004:
Minnesota Musky Championship Trail
The Minnesota Musky Championship Trail is designed for the weekend musky angler who enjoys the camaraderie and competition that a tournament can provide.
Why One Day Tournaments?
A one-day tournament is designed to appeal to the average weekend warrior that would like to compete against others. This will be the guys or perhaps gals that cannot afford to take a week or two off to fish a large event. It will also be the person that cannot afford to plunk down $450.00, $1000.00 or $2500.00 on a tournament. Hopefully this will attract many family guys and gals that haven't had an opportunity to fish a cash event due to family commitments. One day away fishing, even if it is with 60 boats, can be a great time. No worries other than if the fish is going to bite.
The MMCT has selected the waters for the 2004 trail by working with representatives from the DNR, local fishing clubs, lake associations & the general public. Input has helped us select locations and look for water that suits everyone and not just the tournament anglers.
Giving Back to the Resource
At each event the MMCT will designate $5.00 per angler from entry fees to be donated directly back to the resource. This could/will include, local lake associations, DNR, fishing clubs, or environmental groups dedicated to muskellunge habitat restoration. In addition, the MMCT will be partnering with various musky clubs throughout the state to provide judge boats to each event. This will hopefully insure experienced "Musky" judges. The MMCT will make a donation to the clubs that provide judge boats in addition to compensating the judges themselves. For more information on how you or your can help please contact us at [email protected].
All profits from the 2004 MMCT will be used towards stocking efforts in MN.
