| Anybody live or fish in those area's? Just looking for general knowledge and what people think of the areas.
Compared to big Lakes (Mille Lacs, Rainy, Leech, Vermilion ect) those impoundments seems more like real wide rivers? Do you require a bigger deep V style boat down there or is a 17' enough? |

Location: E. Tenn | Fished Dale Hollow some out of a 17' Tracker bass boat with no issues. Cumberland has a lot more pleasure boat traffic.

| Thank you, I see lots of people fishing Smallmouth & Crappie. Was there much trolling for Walleye & Muskie when you were there? Any Pike of any size? |

Location: E. Tenn | We were targeting smallmouth at the time, and I didn't run into anyone fishing muskies. We didn't troll, or see anyone trolling. There are no pike as far as I know...but that was a number of years ago.

Location: Walker, MN | There are no muskies or Pike in Cumberland, just a few muskies left in DHL. Bass, Crappie, Trout and Walleye fishing is good in DHL. Bass, Striper, Crappie and Walleye in Cumberland. I've fished a lot out of a small aluminum with no issues at all. Melton Hill is two hours away, and Green River an hour and a half north in KY...both good options for muskies. |

Location: Walker, MN | Oh and you never want to be on Cumberland or DHL May-September...they're over-run with recreational boaters and houseboats. The guides literally have to fish at night for bass. Also, spring rains can really screw up all of the reservoirs and make fishing challenging. November into December and March/April are probably the best fishing overall, with a few dozen to a couple hundred bass boats ripping around if there's a derby on. |

Location: Duluth | Dale Hallow is needle in a hay stack, only redeeming quality of Cumberland is the walleye and striper fishing. Cumberland tailwater on the other hand....not musky water but a great fishery.

Location: Athens, Ohio | You can also fish the Cumberland River out of Burkesville for huge striped bass hybrids and brown and rainbow trouts. There are muskies in Dale but darn few. My 16 ft Tracker did fine there but my Gambler was better.
If you are looking South, maybe also consider Fontana Lake in NC for muskies and smallies. m |

The lodging there is about as nice as you can find for the area. Kind of a cool little community, a bunch of dudes have their storage units set up like living rooms. |

| Thank you. That was a fun read.
I think I would like the area, the question becomes will I like the Cumberland River or Dale Hollow more.
I am a troller. I love looking at shoreline, I hate crowds and the water sport crowd. I guess that is why I think the Cumberland River might be best for me. I'm hoping to go down sometime in May and look around, maybe hire guides to run me around the River and then over to Dale Hollow for a lookie see. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being nutso hardcore I would say I'm a 4. A day on the water with no drama is all I really ask for. If I get a tug or two on the end of my line all the better I guess. But, I've never one time in my life lost a seconds worth of sleep over getting skunked while fishing.
If anybody else has any input i'll be thankful for what you share.

Location: Athens, Ohio | From the trips I made there years ago, there were always little hollers and coves at Dale where you could lose the crowd. This time of the year you shouldn't see any jet fleas and such. We trolled for muskie with Fred McClintock the week between Christmas and New Years, it was pretty sparse.The KY state lodge is a real nice place, and there are many resorts with marinas on both the KY and TN sides. m |

Location: Duluth | Theres a great baitshop outside Celina that my brother and I usually stop at when we would go to buy beer (Burkesville was dry until 2016 I believe).
The Obey can be a fine afternoon as well. |
