I will be visiting South Turtle Lake this summer in early July. Looking for any information you may have, regarding tips, water color, baits to try and really any information you can provide. I have been to the Hayward area several times, this will be the first time visiting this area. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

For some reason this lake is not currently managed for muskies by Wis DNR. It appears the upstream basin provides sufficient spawning habitat for natural reproduction. The west shore of the lake map was not particularly accurate So decided to troll while mapping and landed a couple short fish. You will note the old piles for the railroad trestle are still present. Turtle Lake Lumber had a relatively large operation their unit the early 1900's. If you have side imaging you will also note hundreds of drowned logs north of the trestle. Its not a destination lake for us and if you get bored there many other lakes in the area.

I use to fish it quite a bit. It's worth fishing and I generally always had action. I spent a lot of time fishing the weed edge off the big bay on the west side of the lake you can go up and down that all day and there are fish using it imo... can go into North Turtle as well from south and there are a fair amount of fish in there too.

Thank you for sharing some info! hearing good things about the big bay on the southwest side. I appreciate it. My wife and I travel Northern WI quite a bit, great area to explore and try to find Skis.
