That's really terrible. Man we will miss him. I just joined muskies inc. but I really felt like I knew him. From all of us in wv, we are sorry and I know he is catching world records on every cast on that big pond in heaven.

I just returned from our local MI meeting that Perry is a member of. We learned of the sad news right after the meeting at 8:30.

He will be missed!!

God bless you, Perry. I'm glad I got the chance to meet you, and talk with you, if only a few times. You have made a lasting impression on many.

I can still picture you up on LOTW in the fall of 2000, casting at a sandy beach, sun breaking through the grey fall sky, to shine on you and your little piece of solitude. I'm sure you are there, now. You will be missed.

I met Perry at last year's mn musky show. His passion for our sport and the direction he brought to MI was undeniably genuin. We can all look up to him for that and keep his enthusiasm alive.

I only had the privilege of meeting Perry a couple times and thats all it took to know how passionate he was about M.I. and the sport of musky fishing. Perry, you will be missed dearly.

A sad day for Perry's family and the Muskie world. Obviously Perry had a significant positive influence on the Muskie world and those around him. I enjoyed reading "From the Blue Boat" in each issue of MI. I will miss that. Our prayers are with Perry and his family during this time of grieving.God Bless you Perry for all you were in this life. I never had the chance to meet or talk with Perry. However, I am glad that he chose to do the job and accomplish the many things he has for Muskies Inc. His efforts have put my sport in much better shape.

Thanks Perry. I hope that someday I'll be able to fish out of your boat.

No more backlashes...

Perry will be missed by all.
He was a "real person" who wasn't afraid to do what is right. He transformed a "good old boy" out of control organization that MI had evolved into and brought back common sence and focus of what the group was ment to be. That in itself was a monumental task!
I had got to meet Perry, many times, through my involvement with the Milwaukee Chapter of MI, and most recently at a Muskie Show this winter. My time on this earth is better for it!
I will miss him. God bless his family.

Last year at the chicago muskie show Don Hunt, myself and two Michigan boys sat in Perry Smiths hotel room with two MI old timers and talked about the future of Muskies Inc.....We did this until 5:30 in the MORNING! And let me tell you, there were some heated debates from us younger folks and the veterans from Ohio. BUT, Perry was a great moderator who was interested in making Muskies Inc. the best it could be and evolving it into the best club it could be. I gained a lot of respect for the man that night....

God Bless Perry as he searches for those big muskies in the sky.

Jim Beaty told me Tom Robbins is working with Marilyn and her family on a memorial fund for Perry. Apparently Perry would prefer donations to a worthy cause over flowers. Tom will post details when available.
