I have one that is a 25 foot rope (heavy twine) round metal with couple trebles with the points cut off works real well in depths under 25 feet. I got at Cabela's. I don't leave home without it. In the days I carried a gaff it worked well for getting lures off logs that were just out of reach. Where you could see the lure just bend down and pull on the right treble a it worked well. Next trip I going to buy a pole type for shallower snags.

I have both types in my boat as well..99% of the time I use the Frabill 15' pole... I've had the same pole for over 15 years..its paid for itself 100x over.
