 | What five lures are you taking to a big $$$$ tourney (make it 300k) on unknown waters in an unknown location anywhere in the muskies range. You can only bring one rod and five lures.
 Be specific, model color size.

 | First, I wouldn't fish such an event. ever. This would make an interesting Fall challenge on this site, tho: pick a weekend and have folks sign up for five baits; see who gets fish for bragging rights. Anyway, two Muskie Treats, a gold cowgirl, topraider, and Goldie the Sledge would keep me busy for the day. m

Once you jig bondys and get pinned to the gunnel, you will have found your next addiction...

 | I'm far from a Muskie maven but wouldn't the season make a difference? Wouldn't Sept. baits on Eagle be different than late June July baits on Eagle?
I'll follow along and see what everybody thinks.

 | The premise is that you don't know...the event is a total unknown prior to going. Actually it isn't an event at all, it's the concept we are using for discussion. I was going to play this out a bit then start another with the time of year being a factor. I suspect it will change things knowing the season but I think less than one may think. For example many people will have a glider or minnow bait ( fairly interchangeable imo) in the mix, spring thru fall. In my world the bucktails just get bigger as the water cools...but I still need a blade bait spring thru fall. etc etc.

 | Fascinating to see others top 5! I wouldn't change mine based on this list, but there are an awful lot of lures listed on here that I either owned and got rid of, own and wouldn't pack for a trip, or pack on a trip and wouldn't likely bother to throw.
I always say I'm going to take the "B team" out for an outing or two, but leaving your best baits in the box just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Funny story: I used to fish with a buddy of mine who's first lure of choice was always a Burt. Not bashing Burts - I watched my buddy catch fish on them more than a few times. But I can't see buying one. Same with reef hawgs. I know they work for other guys but....

 | The season would make a difference but regardless I only need 2 lures. If the bottom is rock I'd troll a 9" Ernie or similar running depth lure. If hard or firm sand I'd add in a JB1 Spoonpug. |
