Location: Rochester, New York | So i was looking at a couple lures and i was wondering what colors would be good
For a five of diamonds dardevle i was wondering if a brass or nickel would be better i read copper was better then the other two but they dont make it for the five of diamonds so its between the two
Also i saw savage gear weedless fruck which is basically a weedless frog but designed in the shape of a duck if you havent seen it and was wondering which color would work the best yellow chick, mallard, fruck(green color that they call it) or black baby bird |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | If you are fishing heavy shallow slop color makes very little difference. If there is any:
Muskie's eye placements are such that they look forward to up, with a blind spot close in front. Therefore the sky will be the background against which the fish will need to see the lure.
Dark day, dark lure, light day bright lure. |

Location: NW WI | Naw skip the fruck. It's fine for bass, meh for esox. Terrible for grass cuz the beak to line tie configuration forms a little noock that likes to catch and hold floating or week veg . Those feet don't hold up well either. Great idea and concept, but with its puny size and presentation, let's face it- no fish is eyeing up that thing registering its a 1/2 scale duckling and basing its bite off that. |

Honestly i would have thought without the feet would look better so it looks wounded too
But in that case are there any other weedless ducks or frogs that would work very well
within that price range for pike
I know any frogs work for bass but pike i am not coming across any specifics or anything that would get them especially the big ones going |

If you had to use one what brand model size and color would you go with
Disappointing that the duck lure wouldn't work though |

Location: NW WI | Please do share those 2, I'm a frog connoisseur.
Firstly get past the idea that when ur froggin heavy cover that the fish are cognitively registering the presentation as what it is.
2ndly what hooks a Esox will hook a bass-but what hooks a bass may not hook esox as often or as well. Their mouths and strike techniques are simply just different. Id say about 80% what's out there I'd personally never buy because of that.
3rdly, get good at sharpening and bending ur hooks up as much as the hook, frog body, and weeds will allow.
I'm a little confused and curious as to why your looking 4 a pike exclusive frog, it really shouldn't matter. Whatever frogs you've been throwing u should be getting hit by pike on. It's not a technique/bait that's species specific. Which makes me wonder if your missing them.
Either way I'll try to help ya out some here.
So, u could go the Big Lure=Big Fish route and throw a Spro King Daddy, a Walmart Renosky, or a 4.5" Zoom. All BIG frogs. The Spro casts like a Javelin, walks decent with a leader, it's body softness and hook size/angle are acceptable but not my favorite. You will miss fish with it, but what u catch is gunna have a big Ole mouth on her. The Renosky I actually like as a specialty tool. It's profile hinders it's casting distance but the hook and body profile are great if you get struck from behind. You will likely loose the weight and legs at some point. The Zoom I'm new to, just got it and haven't spent much time with it. But the ultra soft body and hook angle and position have me pretty confident vs the other 2 although it's smaller.
Another frog that seems to somewhat isolate pike and trigger fish on odd days is
The Teckel USA Honker Frog and their Qlinker frog. The "Klink Klatter" sound of nocking blades with some added flash seems to trigger pike on days when they're not wanting regular frogs. Spro has a similar frog called the Bronzeye. I have some and like the softness of the body but I have not used it yet.
The following now is just a list of frogs I regularly catch Esox on.
-Scum Frog Launch Frog- casts a mile, super soft body, still floats loaded with bite holes, but the biggest thing is their running a different angled hook that's super sharp and has Fantastic hook %. Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog appears to be extremely similar with the same hooks but I haven't ran it yet.
-LunkerHunt Froglet- walk the dog presentation, but the further set back small hooks without a skirt eliminates skirt hits and hook % is very high.
-Molix Supernato- with a leader you basically get a weedless slow sinking jerk bait, it does just fine climbing over the top of thick cover but if you hit holes or open edge she'll perform like a jerk bait just below the surface. Same deal as the froglet, the tighter smaller hooks have a much better hook % on esox vs traditional frog hooks.
-now these aren't 100% recommended for esox, but any kind of higher speed popping frog I recommend always having. I personally like LunkerHunt Yappa Rat and Booyah Toad Runner. Sometimes that noise especially at morning, dusk, night will set em off. |

I use a lot of Booyah Pad Crashers. Cheap and effective. They used to make a larger size but i dont see that listed anywhere now. Just in a regular old bullfrog color although i dont think that matters too much.
Another thing you might consider is a buzzbait. |

Tequila is the color of this buzz bait skirt. That is purple/ blue/ black, they call tequila. And added contrast with the Chartreuse/ and Tail chartreuse. JD |

Lots of different skirt colors are available, obviously. Topwater bait, so sky is background. Dark day, dark lure, bright day, bright lure. |

You dont have one color you would swear by if you could only use one like bone for a spook or green pumpkin for a senko |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sure, black. Always right.
Learn what happens to color in the water, and all the variables like water clarity, sun angle, wave action, and more. What you see in the boat is not what the fish will see. Also learn how fish vision works, much different than ours as they live in a much darker world. Complicated. |

Location: Brighton CO. | Black is good so is plain white. Mepps has a color chart that show how different colors show up in different water types (color).
You can't go wrong with Perch (even if the body of water goes have Perch). |
