1) What's the first bait you're throwing Saturday?
2) Historically, what bait has caught you the most fish opening weekend?

Location: Delavan, WI | 5" - 7"" glider, size, color and make depends on the lake for instance a 6" Softail Phantom would be a good choice |

Location: PA Angler | Phantom softail would be a good first then some kind of swimbait or a fly (game changer). |

This... and either a baby Depthraider, or .22Short. |

...or a fly (game changer).
had wanted to try this on a certain lake after I saw a musky roll on the surface one opener. I can believe it. |

Fly is an interesting idea. Last week there still were a few muskies spawning along the shore in front of my place and this morning about 6:00 AM I was making coffee and looked at the lake just as a big fish swirled just past the end of my dock. Either a muskie or big pike. But clearly took something either on or just below the surface. |

Location: PA Angler | You can fish them on the surface, just below, or let them sink in the holes just like any other lure.
Surprised not a lot on here that fly fish. I would think it just as expensive. Plus very easy to tie the flies up. Also I’ve been known to throw a couple on a spinning rig but prefer a fly setup.

| Not a bait, but a reminder: If fishing solo, wear your pfd. Warden I have fished with told me this week his biggest concern is that everyone be safe this weekend, wear those pfds. Every year he spends multiple days searching the water with his si/di Humminbird, and he is not looking for fish. |
