Does your state have a Opener? And do you fish it?

Yes, always fish the northern WI musky opener, the Sat. before Memorial Day.

Buddies and I have fished the St. Louis opener for the last decade. Dang, I need to get my boat ready.

First Saturday in June here in Minnesota. I do not fish it. I generally wait until July to start muskie fishing.

No opener for us all year round fishing. I’m usually already fishing for them but to much stuff is happening so haven’t gotten a chance to go yet.

Here in Colorado we only have Tigers and some good sized Pike with no closed season. The good fishing lakes around town open to boating around the first of March. (if they are ice free) once in the past that was not the case and I used to catch big Trout by throwing a lure in the ice and jerking it into the water and Boom and you would get a fish most casts. In the mountain Lakes more late May. I've fished the Minnesota Muskie opener once. I've taken a trip to Northern Wis. in May of 1989 and it was a blast. I can't remember if they had general opener or Muskie opener back then. Caught some Northerns and Smallmouth's and had a couple Muskie take me on a ride with my light tackle. I need to take that trip again. Cool weather reduced crowds and cheaper cabin rental. And Quiet! A feeling of the Northwoods.

The 3rd of June this year in MN, I'll still be fishing walleyes and smallmouth. My muskie season starts Monday June 5th.

Back in the raging days I threw the first cast at midnight, about a minute into the opener.

Already fishing in South Dakota. Minnesota I won't be out opening weekend. Just not worth it. The next weekend, it's on.

Made it over to southern Wisconsin to fish a small lake in the western part of the state. Was able to put 2 mid 30’s in the boat, one on a 6” phantom the other on a 7” slammer. Cool little reservoir, way different than what I usually fish in minnesota

Back in the 1970s, fished the Three Lakes chain for opener and there were always a number of boats on the water at midnight chasing walleyes.

When my dad was a kid in Wisconsin they waited for Memorial Day weekend, then he would come the last week of June with his cousins family, then my and his cousin would stay the next week (4th of July) with my Grandparents. (they got two weeks and the grown up's got one) Then everyone came back for Labor Day weekend and that was it for the year. They rolled up the sidewalks in Eagle River. Up to the Chequamegon in November for Deer Hunting.
When I was a teenager in California a couple times we went up with my future brother in law and fished the Eastern Sierra Nevada Trout opener on Lake Crowley. We caught a lot of Trout and there were so many boats we could almost walk on water.
