Curious as to whom has hung it up, who might get out a little more, and who has a trip planned?

Done for me. Figured I should get the motor winterized before consistent freezing temps at night and snow. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to do that myself and/or get a heated garage...

I put the musky gear away after a trip up north the first couple weeks in June, and start up again when TVA starts drawing down headwater lakes in August.

Here in SW OH, water is low 50's, headed further down with the weather coming this weekend. Plan on fishing until mid-Dec if it lets me. One thing I didn't count on was our local lake taking out ALL the docks. Usually, the ones closest to the dam stay in all year. Don't know why they did it but there is really no place to pull up on the bank as it's all big rocks. Only option is the ramp itself but it is still a wet few steps. Breaking out the waders to clear a kayak launch that has large rocks in the way. Their way of telling us boaters to stay off "their" launch. Lake is down 3' for winter pool which doesn't help.

Been in the 70's the last few days working on some projects outside before the snow falls (too hot this summer) got a new washing machine and dryer yesterday had been on order since mid August, we finally had to get a different model the other one just kept backordering. My part of the house is a mess got fishing tackle everywhere got to get cleaned up so my buddies can come by and watch ball. (the way my team is playing) it's more drink Beer and eat. Well Steve we had Pileated Woodpecker hit the sliding glass door back when my grandparents had the place on the lake. It was stunned and just hang on a side of a tree a foot off the ground for a half hour. The whole family watched it recover before it flew off. And nobody thought to take a picture in till it was gone.

I winterized my boat 2 weeks ago. My final outing was on Oct 22 this season.

I hunt in November and December so I need a little time to prepare for that before it starts in early November.

Went out today water temp was 52 degrees towed a sucker around all day with no success ,sucker stayed lively with no problem. Sucker price was $10.50 at Triangles in Illinois about 12".I saw about 10 boats on the water today. And didn't see any fish caught. Not putting the boat away yet maybe after Christmas .

I will fish till mid December. We have 50 degree surface temps around here. With a big cool down hitting tonight, I am hoping by Sunday fish will be firing up. Water temps have hung in the low 50's for about 4 weeks now. Fishing slowed down. What do folks use to keep their eyelets from icing up? I do a few changes to gear, ex. different line, reels with larger level wind guides, and older rods so I am not upset if I set the hook and the rod breaks.

When it get's cold some WD 40 Silicon Lubricant, I think Doug Wagner has a video on it if you google it. I fish in MN up until ice up I don't have issues with the eylets but have problems with the reel, the guide will start to freeze to the side when reeling... when that happens usually move to trolling morning/night cast mid day when you can. Make sure to have a torch or something warm to use on the trolling motor too or after trips put it down so all the water can drain, that will freeze closed!

I've used the wd40 silicone on my reels and it worked. Didn't want to put it on the guides. I don't think its a big deal to just break off the ice with my hand now and then. As far as your rod breaking from a hookset when its cold, I don't think it would make a difference ever. Ice fishing rods don't break and it's far colder then.

This hawk plowed into the kitchen window a couple weeks ago left a nice mark too. Decided to not put it in the freezer.

I’ll be fishing a small river until December 1st since it never ices up unless it’s bellow 0 for a long time. I usually can get a few weeks of walleye fishing on the Mississippi in Minneapolis in December before the launches ice up. I don’t do any ice fishing so I always squeeze out as much open water time as I can. Usually can get back on the river walleye fishing by the end of February

Snowed most of the day today. weekend is supposed to have a high of 25 with a nice wind....but next weekend might be warm enough for a turkey day chase. OR, it is over...

Saying it here: going to get back into working out this winter so I'm not a big rolly poly next year!

Thought I'd still be fishing but 19 degs this morning. Below freezing the last couple days and projected to warm up mid week but dropping again after that. Lake not frozen but not my cup of tea fishing in freezing temps especially fishing solo. Been spoiled the last couple years with it staying warm right up to Christmas. Still holding out hope that things will warm up, though...

Last month, I was on one of my favorite 'local' lakes casting, and the leader snap broke, dropping my bait into 5-6 ft of water. Lake was looking like turnover, with visibility only a couple feet, I patrolled the area for quite a while, this Muskie Treat was one of my favorites (lemonhead!). No luck, and no fish for the day either.

Well, this week I went back. Lake level was down abt 3 ft and I hit a few spots. My real goal, tho, was to find that bait. I followed my GPS to the spot where there were a lot of small tight circles and made a slow pass gazing from the water edge to the summer pool line. Back and forth, nope. Then, I started the pass looking below the water's edge and nestled up against a dinner plate sized rock in 6 inches of water was my freakin Treats.
Poor thing had been under water a month and was swelled up like a roadkill. I took it home dried it out and did a few basic repairs, I think it's ready to go again. Gotta give it a try before this cold spell come io. m

Went this last Saturday for the final time of the year. Lost one on a sucker, tail grabber. Raised (2) others. Deep freeze is coming after this weekend. Time to clean things up and get ready for next year. I really dislike calling it quits but when mother nature says she is locking things down for the open water season here I have little choice.
