Currently, there are three different types of bait cast reel handles. A double paddle handle, a counterbalanced handle, and a jigging power handle. If you use the different handles, how do apply them to your type of fishing. For example, for bucktails, I prefer a jigging power handle. My question is, how do you use these different handle types for your best results? kdawg

On both my Tranx 500 PG and Tranx 400 I have power handles. I also have two System 13 A3's these reels come with both power and double paddle. There's not much size difference on the A3 handle so I just kept the double paddle on the Tranx 500 PG for pulling 10's and being on a X-heavy rod I throw pounders and big plastics ECT. Reason for the power handle on the Tranx 400 is for pulling crankbaits.

I prefer a double paddle for anything not worked with a steady retrieve. Anything paused or jerked.
My Large bucktail set-up and small buck/topwater set-up have power handles.
For some reason when jerking or twitching I find myself occasionally searching for the handle if I am using a single handled reel.

Honestly don’t pay attention to really this stuff but I got a single big knob on my reel and wish I got the double. When reeling in it gets a little awkward and sometimes I lose the handle not like my spinning gear where my hand knows where to go for the handle. It’s the only baitcaster I have so I use it to throw everything I can.
