Watched the videos of the 6.5” in action. Took mine out, Different action. Fluro 130# killed the action. Want to make it dance and have hang time like the video. What’s the best leader set up.

Going to try this :
Split ring on lure
25# knot 2 kinky titanium 10”
Solid ring to split ring on lure
Small spro barrel to connect braid to leader

Any thoughts?

Toss on 2-6 oz 8’6” rod

It's not a big lure. I would try an 8" 100lb flouro, 60lb seven strand, titanium or 105lb straight wire leader.

Yours probably doesn't work. Go ahead and send it to me. Or, try seven strand.

For any smaller crank I use 50lbs multi strand titanium leaders. I buy the 9” bass pro shop brand ones, cut the snap off and replace it with a split ring. I have some 75lbs ones for bigger twitch baits on a heavier rod. It is insane how big of a difference it makes using one compared to floro. Other companies make multi strand titanium but the bass pro ones are quality and way less expensive than the other brands. At some point I’m going to get a crimper and make them in various weights with a welded ring instead of a split ring.

One thing I will say is you have to be careful with split rings and thin leaders because they will work themselves off if you don’t check them periodically. Last fall I lost a $50 glider because of not paying attention to the split ring

Stealth tackle spring leader is your best bet

How about a simple single strand 124 lb wire leader? No snaps, no swivel just a piece of wire looped on the bait about 6-7" long.

That's what a spring leader from stealth tackle is. 124lb wire with split ring about 6inches long.

Stealth tackle spring leader worked well for the 5.5” and 6.5” death pause minnow. My 6.5” actually rises head up about 3” per second.

I'm pretty sure Lee talks about the leader they use in a few of the original vids of the death pause. I think he uses titanium, but it's been a while. Like others here, I've had good success with the Stealth spring leaders on other smaller baits, but have not used the death pause personally. Stealth also makes a 90 lb seven strand that would potentially work well. I picked up a couple for pike fishing this winter and I'm looking forward to trying it out soon.

It does sound like the easy solution is to just by a stealth spring leader!

In a video I believe Lee suggested a 30# terminator titanium leader for the 5.5” death pause minnow. But the 6.5” works great on a spring leader And I bet it would be just fine on a 9” solid wire leader too. I thought the 5.5” did great on a spring leader too but I didn’t try anything else to compare the action.
