Rob Myers - St. Croix?

I’m planning on getting a new bucktail rod before spring. I like your 7’ models, but I was wondering what is the difference between the avid and the premier models. In layman’s terms relating to their fishing functionality please. What kind do you fish with?
I like the seven footers because that’s what fits in my rod lockers. Plus when I took up this sport 6 footers were the norm, so it’s been a slow evolution for me. Thanks

Thanks for the question!
The main differences are the Avid Series has a higher quality graphite which makes it lighter in physical weight and more sensitive. We also have higher quality guides and the oversized cork grips for better comfort. The final aspect is the limited lifetime warranty as to the two year warranty on the Premier.
The 2 main bucktail rods I use are the PM72MHF which handles up to 2 1/2oz lure weight and the PM610MF which handles up to 2oz. I generally use the PM610MF for lighter and/or smaller bucktails like Mepps Musky Killers, Figure 8 Stalkers and Prowlers and Shumway's Hot Heads. The PM72MHF is for all your medium to larger bucktails.
If I have a heavy bucktail like a Hellraiser Bearclaw, I use the PM70MHF that goes to 3oz.
I use the PM72MHF a lot of the time so if you can squeeze the extra 2" in your locker, that would be one of my suggestions.

Thanks for the reply. A few follow-ups if you don’t mind: There seems to be a big variance/imbalance between what pound test people are using and the line weight of the rod. 1) Is my warranty good if I snap a rod using a higher pound test than the line weight on the rod? 2) What does that line weight on a rod exactly mean? Can I snap 35# test line with a rod rated at 40#? 3) Is it possible, and are there plans to make rods able to handle the higher line weights and still maintain the action necessary for fishing?
Thanks again

Jeff,
As to custom weighting a rod, I wouldn't have a good answer on that. I use them as is. I'm sure some of our hallowed rod builders here would have some insight on good balancers or weight systems.
