Jim Wilson - Still in business?

I contacted Jim to replace a bait of mine which the paint was peeling off after very little use. He agreed to replace it and proceeded to charm me into buying an Enchanter. I have to admit, I love my Shaker (with the exception of the paint) and agreed to buy the Enchanter. I sent him a check and he agreed (would not promise) to get my bait to me before a week trip, the first week of September. This all took place about the first week of July. My story is much the same as everybody else, I have nothing and he has my money. I’ve tried to call him several times and left a message that he do me the courtesy of letting me know when he might send me my baits. Nothing.

Today I got a message from the phone company when trying to reach him stating that the number has been changed to a non-published number. I imagine his phone was plagued with outraged customers. Does anyone know if this guy is still in business and if he will be honoring his commitments? Better yet does anyone know if he is stupid enough to show up at the Chicago Musky Show?

As far as I know he's still in business, a real pain in the ass to deal w/ though. Claims he had serious staffing problems that are now fixed. My bait I ordered from the Chi show in Jan didn't show up til Oct. He did offer a pretty sweet deal after the fact too. Any how, he says they are basically shutting down any orders from now til April so they can inventory and alleviate their prev. problems. He also said he will not be taking any orders for deilvery at the shows, only cash/check/etc & carry. A long......long.....long wait for mine but ya HAVE to love the action on that shaker.

Mr Jim Wilson has ticked me off since Jan 01'. He promised me baits the whole year, said he was sick, then sick some more, then staffing problems. Well when I do get the 4 baits he owes me I plan on putting them on Ebay to whomever wants them. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a bait from this character. He better have them for me at the Chicago show. If you see some guy going irrate at the Chicago show, that will be me!!!!!!

This is all very true, and the guy isn''t really the greatest to deal with, but we all keep throwing the baits. Runnin'' Hot, you''re throwing that shaker all the time. Slamr, I know you''re gonna chime in here. You swore to never buy a Hughes River, but it''s the only bait that''ll move fish on Lake X on some days.(that one day, no matter what we threw, it always came back to the shaker)

Let''s face it, the guy''s not the greatest businessman in the world, but he does know how to make a darn good bait!

Some places have quite a few. Midwestrod and Reel in aurora and downers grove have some as well as Smokey's in pewaukee. There was a place in minoqua too, north of rollie and helen's in town that had some also.

I have one and I love it. I will have another one before too long. It will definitely be one on a shelf.
