Well I had my last guide outing of the year.. and for my life for that matter. LOL

Took two great guys out and gave them each a shot at a muskie on a sucker. But we went 0-2, one quick-set and one circle hook. Small window, had both fish going right away in the first half hour of the day. We saw one more fish and were done by noon. They had fun, learned some new stuff and a new lake.

Then I got some good hunny-doos done at home and watched the Packers win..... Thank god for that.[]

Hey Jason,

Fished on a weekend for the first time in a long while so I can actually post on your "what did you do this weekend?".

Since I already posted my fabulous catches on the Faith and stupidity thread, I have not much to add other than same old fish, same old bait, same old places.

Now if you'd post a what did you do last week
I could have added a lot more posts this fall.

Last guide client of the year on Saturday, he got a 38 incher on a Jig, lost one other one and saw three more from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm. Got back out on Sunday. I caught a 37 and a 35 inch Tiger on a Jig. My first Tiger of the year. Partner lost two we don't know what happened but they were just gone. [:((] Won't be getting out this week and Deer season this next weekend, might have been the last trip of the year. Still hoping for the weekend after Thanksgiving though.

Well my last weekend out didn't pan out as planned, there was not slaughter of fish thats for sure.We had temps in the high 50's all week untill Sat. when we had highs of low 40's which turned the fish right off.
Sat we boated one fish a healthy 42" caught jigging a bulldawg on a 20ft reef, and lost 2 fish trolling,Sun. we tried everything in the book and caught one small muskie and a 40" northern in the last moments of the day. Then to wake up today to sunny skies and warmer temps makes me feel as if the gods must be crazy, or non fisherman?

Not a thing all weekend. No fish, no follows, no bites, NOTHING. I'm afraid thats how it usually is for me, but next year, I will have many more lakes to fish.

The boat saw one fish this weekend on Pewaukee. A nice, healthy 36" graced the net on Saturday for my boss. It was his first muskie. Kind of strange day, though. I would bet we had sucker pick-ups 10-14 times where they would pick up, run for about five seconds, and drop. If we would have caught one or two more of those, it would have been a great day.

Things have been red hot #'s wise, in southern Wisconsin for the past month! Took a guy out today (Monday) and we hooked into 9 muskies, boating 5. Last week fished a couple of days and boated 9 to 41". Only 11 more to hit the 100 fish mark.[;)]

Fished shabbona saturday afternoon and pops had a hawg try to eat his lure boatside. Sunday on pewaukee pops again had a mid-thirties follow and two hits trolling.

Jason, without mentioning any details, have you had any success fishing the lakes you were guiding on since you were not on pewaukee? All I am looking for is a yes or no.[:)]

Since the remenant weeds havn't been too productive lately we trolled deeper water for suspended fish Sunday morning here in southern WI. Got one fish, a 33-34" fish. That was all the action we had in 6 hours. Oh well, It was better than we had been doing on the weed edge.

Fished Fri. through Sunday on Presque Isle. Friday and Sunday we got blanked. Saturday we had one follow and three pickups on suckers. We were fishing circle hooks. The first fish took the sucker shallow so we're figuring small fish. After about 20 minutes we still haven't felt him chomping on the bait, but he starts to move again so we try to take him. Just before we get him into our sight he lets go. The sucker is still in the water and all of the sudden we see the ski rising up eyeing the sucker. When the sucker notices whats going on he makes a beeline for our boat and the musky grabs it again under the boat. We notice that the fish is pretty small, about 32", so we decide to see if we can net it without hooking it. I get the net in the water, my partner pulls the fish toward the net and the ski lets go again. Matt pulls the sucker back toward the fish and the stupid thing grabs the sucker again. This time we pulled him right in the net while the ski had hold of the suckers tail. That fish had no idea we were even there until we netted him. Unbelievable for a fish that had no intention of eating.
The next fish took the sucker out to 50' of water, but just sat there too. Never ate the sucker. We gave her 30 minutes and tried to bring her in. We got her near enough to the boat to guess the length at about 44", but when she let go that was it. The next fish did the exact same thing. I tried to just slowly bring her up close so I could at least get a look at her. She felt heavy but I never got her withing 30' of the surface. After about 20 minutes of messing around with her she finally let go.
We were able to re-use all three of those suckers the next day. All were lively. I thought skis were mean, but these three were very gentle creatures that just wanted to play.
