It's supposed to be 25 below zero tonight here. Can't imagine how cold it will be up there!

Hope you have your doors shut tight, and an extra log for the fire! This will make some ice for sure.

The cold air and windy conditions have resulted in a lot of lake effect snow here in southwestern Michigan. Locals call it the "lake effect snow machine". We've received like 16" in the past week, many white out driving experiences, lots of wrecks on I-94, and more lake effect snow to come on Friday. Icy roads all around, and with high winds and plows can't keep up with the drifting snow. I've been trying to ice fish, but the dang wind keeps pushing my portable shanty over when I step outside. Dumps my minnies.

Right now I-94 is shut down for a few miles both ways near Paw Paw, MI, a semi tanker with a toxic liquid load rolled. Evacuating people for miles and miles around.

-40! Bet that will make some ice on LOTW!

Last time I was in weather near that cold was up in Finland, MN in 1978. It was -35, and I had PM's on antennaes that day. Had to climb up over 120' to do them, and the wind was near 25 MPH. Damn near froze my plumbing that day!
