My buddy and I spent a couple hours the other day making leaders from 100 pound test flourocarbon line.  We tried uni and palomar knots, but could not get them to cinch down tightly.  We ended up using clinch knots, and then superglued (fishin' glue) the knots.  The knots pulled down tightly, and seem quite strong.  Does anyone else have any knot suggestions?  The flouro line in this pound test is very wire-like.

I believe a few guys on this board recommended the World's Fair Knot.

I have started crimping mine. Seems to work well with a double barrel sleeve. No break issues during my tests.

Before that I was using a clinch knot and superglue.

I double crimp mine also with aluminum sleaves from BassPro offshore catalog. Works very good so far.

I had a knot come undone on me this fall from 80# Fluoro on the hookset, made me SICK!!

I was tying 2 different kinds, honestly dont remember which one failed, but I did glue it also.

I called Rollies and told them of my problem and obvious future worries with this "wirey" stuff.

They suggested whole-heartedly the knot tying tool( or nail tool or something like that). It's what they use and many guides they know. I bought one and lemme tell ya, it's the slickest thing ever, awesome knot..dont need to lube it or glue it. Looks like a noose when you are done, make as many wraps as you like with this hard to work with material.

it was somewhere in the range of 8-12 bucks.

everyone who tries Fluoro for either leaders or sucker rigs should have one..no brainer, takes the difficult and very important issues of tying it out of the question.

Thanks Greg! My bet is that this is the way to go knot-wise. I was just wondering if swivels and snaps will tie as slick as the hook they display in the pic? I wonder if that's the knot that Smitty uses on his Fluoro leaders? If so it's a winner, caus after countless fish not a single failure.

YUP, I tied treble hooks and barrel swivels to both ends, just feed it through first and keep the swivel and/or treble in the loop part and it works slick.

Cates, I do just as you have done with the improved clinch with a drop of superglue. So far so good.

I think it would work good for that too. Its real easy to use, although I havent tried. The tuffline XP i use is pliable enough to tie my fav..the Bucher Power Knot.

Hey I use hard mono in the 80# test and all I use is a simple clinch knot. So far I've caught plenty of fish up to 50lbs and many snags and no knot or anykind of failure. BTW I am not worried trolling my Wishmasters with them.

Lance Christensen taught me how to tie a "champion knot" (I think that is what he called it) at the Crazy D seminar last year.

Anyway, I still tie the knot but do not know how to explain it here. Anyone know of a site to view the knot? It is an awesome knot as is, but better yet if you add super glue and cinch the knot down tighter.

Nothing close to knot failure last year and no kinks. Used them with bucktails and cranks only.
