Do they put more fish in the boat?Bigger fish in the boat?
Or is it marketing scam ?

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I agree with Steve, no scam at all just another way to paint a lure.
I would say these paint schemes catch more fisherman than fish, as compared to other regular painted lures.
But again like Steve said: paint, no paint, the worlds worst paint job, the worlds best paint job, muskies really don't care how "pretty" a lure looks.

Location: Holly, MI | I have always thought that lures were painted to catch the fisherman. If you look at almost every Jitterbug (except for black) from the bottom they are identical. You only need two and you have all of them..one of any color with a white belly and a black.
Lots of good discussion on that old post. I'm not afraid to try somthing, and I have re-painted many perfectly good lures. I'll be having an upside down lure or two to throw this year. Call it nutty or trendy or a fad but why not?
How about on very pressured waters where the Skis have seen all the popular lures, might a radically different bait be enticing?
So who is going to paint some up? Dr Durst, you up to it? I'll buy one. |

| My son-in-law is a big Suick fan, as am I and he bought a couple of the new sideways baits from Suick that came out last year. My initial response would be that they seem to work as well as the regular 9" or 10" models. No better, no worse. I do believe that he will probably get a few more follows, and strikes with these because the fish havent seen these types of presentations in the past. I am true believer that to a certain degree, muskies become conditioned to certain baits, and especially on heavy pressured lakes.
Thats my two cents, and seeing that I am out of a job, that pretty much emptys out my wallet! (LOL)

The paint job for the most part is to catch the various species of "Homo Fishes-muches Sapiens"! |

My answer to the question is that I "simply don't know" if the reverse or upside down patterns really work or not. ( wish I did )
The only reason I painted a few of the Super Perch in total reverse was because a very nice gentleman asked me too, so I painted a few extra to see if they would interest anyone and I still have a couple left. No one has reported back to me if they worked or not so I gained no nowledge from the ordeal. ( My crew thought I had finally flipped out)
Lobi, I'll paint anything you want my man just don't ask for an inside out fish.
I catch the fisherman because the musky is always broke. |

I bought one of the 10" Jakes in the reversed perch from you this past year, unfortunately I didn't get to throw it much but had a few follows when I did. I'll snap a picture of the first fish I catch on it, it is really a cool looking paint job. |

Unless you are a fish and can give a first hand account of bait color preference, then please refrain from commenting.
No fish post here that I'm aware of. We are all in the ongoing efforts in outwitting and learning about these elusive creatures.
Just a thought on the mention of an upsidedown paintjob being more visable to the angler. If the light colors are easier to see from the top, are the dark colors not more visable from the bottom (muskies perspective) ?
Also, I have seen wounded or ill baitfish swimming erratic on their sides and even upside down. Wouldn't this stick out as an easy target for a preditor?

| Only downfall I can see is standing on my head in the boat during the retrieve! |

Location: Jamestown, Pa. | Hey Handy, You can stand on your head while you fish in my boat anytime you want and I promise I won't laugh ( hard).
Goldar, I didn't comment on color, but as your request, I really would like to hear from the muskies point of view. Sure would make my job easier.
Do any muskies care to comment? Just kidding Goldar , don't take it to heart, Winter is almost over. ( I hope) |
