I will be purchasing two new trolling motor batteries sometime before the season starts and am wondering what you guys use. I'm not looking at spending a fortune but somewhere under $100 a piece. Where do we get our most bang for our buck??

Thanks,

Shayne-

I switched to Trojan Batteries a few years back and they are the best in my opinion. I use the SCS225. Many board members use them too, I am not affiliated with Trojan, just speaking my .02. Here is the link

I got mine through Battery Service Corp here in chicago. They will deliver the batts to your door for free and take your old ones at no extra charge.

I've got one of those new Spiral Cell batteries. Seems great but your looking at almost $100 per battery. Otherwise I highly reccomend the GNB Stowaway batteries, either 800 or 850 mca(marine carnking amps). The 800/850 are dual purpose, deep cycle/starting. I have one I bought in '95 and it still holds a charge. If you are a Sam's Club member, they usually have good prices on the batteries.

I too use Trojan. They have been very good batteries IMO. I have not taken care of them as good as I should have and they still give me all day on the water. I use them on 12 volt trolling motors (transom - 3.1hp Minnkota; bow - 65 lb. thrust AP).

I would also recommend the Tournament series Stowaway batteries. You can purchase them at Sams for about $63.00 a battery. They are way better than the Optima batteries I tried. You cant go wrong.

I bought a batteries plus group 31 last summer and love it. I was looking at the trojans and they are very similar. I went with the batteries plus because it was a little cheaper. I think it was around $85-$95 for the big bastard.

Ditto on the Trojans. I've installed about every brand there is, and Trojan's are the only ones that don't come back.
