I used to have a skunktail inline spinner bought ia long time ago n St Germain. I had good success but cant find one anymore. Two questions
1. Does anyone make skunktails anymore
2. Do you think muskies really detect the scent

Wizzing Wiesnewski used to tie them. I do think he’s still building bucktails.

Skunk has very hollow hair giving it much action.

Eagle Tails are the only ones that I've come across with actual skunk tails. Muskies aren't typically scent feeders so I wouldn't worry about that. The advantage is as mentioned above - hollow hair = more action out of the tail. Also, since it's not dyed the color won't fade out of it like you'd find with marabou. Really like marabou but it does not hold up well...

Every year I make about 20 or so skunk tails for Ross's Sport Shop in Phillips Wisconsin. Every year he sells all of them. Give John Carlson a call up there and see if he has any left. Or if your still looking this winter, I'll be tying some up then, can make any size or with any combination of blade. Also powder coat some blade colors that you don't see.

Another pro is that they smell real real nice when damp.
