No, if I don't use it much or it's a short trip. I try to drain them down a ways before I charge them. I can get 2.5-3 days out of a full charge on 2 interstate batteries so no need to charge every time. Depends on your quality of batteries too. |

This is what I do as well. Not sure if it is the right thing or not, just what was suggested by a tech where I got my boat winterized when I asked about whether I should charge after every use. |

| I charge after every use (unless they were barely used). Mostly so that I don't ever forget where they are at in their charge level, and sometimes it can be much longer before the next use, than I had anticipated. Three different boats over 30 years. Current batteries are 8 years old and last as long as when I got them(24 volt system-standard name brand deep cycle). Only time I ever wrecked batteries, was with my first boat, before I put an on board charger on it, and would forget to hook a charger up right away, and then not use it for a while. |

| A while ago some batteries had memory so thats what got us to run down batts before charging them , now those are long gone and you should charge as soon as possible after use . |

| Found this on the Minn Kota site, discussing deep cycle batteries:
"The lifetime of your batteries will also be influenced by their typical depth of discharge. A battery that most frequently reaches 50% depth of discharge will last longer than a battery that is often pushed to a greater depth of discharge. However, at the same time, repeated shallow discharge (5-10%) of a deep cycle battery also contributes to shortened lifespans." |

Location: NE Ohio | have onboard chargers and its the FIRST thing i do after detaching the trailer in the garage, EVERY TIME! fish about every day and on the 5th year now, no problems. |

| Charge them as soon as I return every time. The sooner they are fully charged the better for them. And long life. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Be sure to check the water levels in the cells every now & then, too! If you let discharged batteries sit too long, they will build up sulfate which is not good on the cells. m |
