Looking to discover my own musky spots on the Saint Lawrence River, not to pressure the existing spots, fish or fishermen
Any advice, feedback or anything to add would be very appreciated!

My idea was to:
1) figure out what depth majority of muskys are at in that given season
2) use a lure that hits that depth zone
Topwater: Top Raider or Pacemaker
Higher up: Bucktails, Super Shad Rap, Suick, Shallow invader, Glide Bait
Lower down: Jake, Magnum deep diving husky jerk, Medussa, Bondybait
3) break down the water ways into higher probability sections, and then do fishable sections per day
4) Dont just steady retrieve (example: twitch, pulse, change directions, speed up, etc)
5) Never give up. Mark down spots with bites. Go out with Guides and musky friends if possible.
6) Im assuming I should look for: Buoys, Points, Weed Beds, Saddles, Humps, Bays, Islands as a good start?

Might you guys recommend I be staying nearer the shore, I find the deep water on the Saint lawrence can be so vast, strong current, difficult and intimidating to fish.

I got my first follow while fishing for Northerns, didnt catch the fish but that got me hooked. First thing I did when I got back home was pull up navionics chart and a google satelite map, look at the spot characteristics and try and ID similar spots in the area.

Went back the following week and while the spot I had seen the fish didnt produce, I got to catch one at a similar spot I had identified. Everytime I go out I take note of the weather, water level and really anything that could be of value. Everytime I see or catch a fish, I take note of time of day, moon phases, or anything you could find value in... If I saw bait fish more actve than usuall at the top of the water column, I'll note that too.

The more notes you take, the more you can replicate success and find new places. Im no expert but thats been working for me...

I also think the Mike Lazarus episode of the Back Lash Podcast is worth a listen.

Sounds like you have a good plan and idea. I too prefer to catch stupid fish that are not pressured, they are eaters not lookers. Keep at it and this will pay off.
