Location: Greenfield, WI | I picked up Slammer Topwater Co.'s, "Thundertail". It is in his show special custom color of "black hole middle of the moonless cloudy night close your eyes tight black"! If it is made and performs like all of the rest of Scott Persons' topwater baits, I should be calling Joe Fittante next for his graphite reproduction rates!

Location: Black Creek, WI | I ended up buying stuff that I could buy anywhere. Was really surprised at the lack of NEW stuff too. As a result, I bought:
2 Jakes
2 Believers
2 Mepps Marabous
25 Eagle Claw 774's
On the way home I picked up another rod holder and rail mount at Bass Pro. I figured with the lack of new stuff to experiment with in 2004, I may as well start learning how to TROLL! That oughtta open up a whole new category of lures that MUST have (heh heh).
I would have bought a Wabull at the show... but opted to wait for the "custom colors" that hopefully will be available On-Line soon. |

I now have 2 new Slammer Drop Belly Gliders, a Twin Tail, a Polly Wog, an Ace Flipper, a small Pacemaker, a Super Believer, and a new 8' Figrig rod. AND reservations at Andy Myers' Lodge with Herbie, and the Wallhanger with Ranger Rick, and a day with Tom Dietz. |

I also dropped off 2 baits to be repainted by MRG. He has some awesome color schemes, and I had 2 baits that needed an overhaul. Can't wait to see them.

Oh well.
I will be picking up a Wabull shortly, as I ran outta cash at the show to get one there.
only 2 more months to get to wet these suckers.
Good lungen, and bring on the Milwaukee show!!!! |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I'm suprised to hear that. After going to this show for years this was the first year where there was lots of custom stuff. In the past there has been some custom stuff, just not this much. Lots of this stuff will not be available in Illinois or Indiana after the show season is over(if it is tell me where) so this is the only time I'll see any of it. |

Location: Lindenhurst, Illinois | I had a hard timing buying stuff. I walked the show for hours and couldn't really commit to any substantial buying.
I got:
1 perch DDD
1 firetige Manta (I have always hated the manta but was talked into trying it again)
ordered 1 7'6" Heavy rod from Franks Custom Rods.
The one thing I didn't get that I wanted to was a couple of big game surface twitchers. I will get them in Milwaukee. |

Please do not try the oil weighted jakes, you are right they do not work, you will only enable Pete to make more money when you ruin one when you experiment with them. Must have a dislike for Pete, tinkering with the jake has happened in lip modifications, weighting them for nuetral bouyancy for a few years.
Good luck

It is not a totally new concept, I have been adding wieght to my jakes for 2 years now, Pete is probably getting asked what he does with his jakes and just came public with one of his modification, you can also heat the lip and bent it forward in a L-shape to change the action of the bait, there is always tinkering to be done to some baits.
Good luck

Location: Illinois-Indiana | I was at the show for two days and didn't buy a thing.
I did manage to get some good stuff at the swap though, I also sold three rods and about 80 baits. (practically had to give them away):(
Oh well, better to get rid of them and make more room for some new stuff that hopefully I will use.
