| Ok im 17 years old and living in reading pa. Im wondering if their are any good spots around here to catch muskies or pikes. Looking for good spots within an hour of where im located. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Location: Lake City,Pa. | Try Lake Ontelaunee for northern pike and Musky. Green Lane Reservior for northern pike. Get yourself the Pennsylvania Atlas & Gazetteer it has a fishing section of most of the lakes in Pa. and lists what type of fish are in that body of water. Hope this helps you out,

| Hello,
Punch and judy are correct about ontalaunee and greenlane for pike,ontalaunee is shoreline fishing only no boats allowed.You have maiden creek below ontalaunee,the schulkill river is probaly your best bet,good spots anywhere around reading.good luck and be persistant you will get bit! |

I fish the Schulykill all winter long, especially near Reading. Got a 38"and 39.5" Tiger on Dec 10. Had 2 more up on New Years Eve. There are many good spots along the river. Winter is my favorite time to fish even though the water may be in the 34 to 38 degree ranges. Only time that's impossible is when the eddies freeze. I fish mainly jerkbaits through the winter. Hope this helps!!

| This time of the year is excellent shore fishing,find slack water spots below or above where streams enter rivers.As far as lures throw 6 and 7 inch bomber long A's,rebel minnows and rapala's( 5 1/2 inch husky jerks).1/4 AND 3/8 OZ.buctail jigs and a variety of big plastics will work but remember slow retrieve and make contact with bottom.Good luck and practice catch and release,what you keep today is one you can't catch tommorow. |

When I fish the Schulykill all I do is wade. As previously mentioned by other musky fisherman, look for slack water areas, such as eddies and pools and you will find fish. The key, in my opinion, is to keep a positive attitude and time when you can get on the water. Since you and I live is SE Pa, it is obivious that the weather has been very difficult this past week. Once it improves, hit the river in key times(i.e. warm afternoons) and look for eddies and pools and you will eventually hit fish. The Schulykill in the Reading area is excellent for Tiger Muskies. I have caught 10 muskies and raised many more the past 2 winters(so far) within the Reading city limits. Just put in the time and you WILL see fish. I know it sound like a cliche, but postive musky attitude (PMA), absolutely works.
