Given the size of the paws on that pup, should be a good swimmer ;>). |

| Cowboy, does us a favor and post what name you decide on, along with a pic. Think folks could use more puppy pictures. |

| We had a Golden Retriever named Jackpot. Over the years we just called him Jack. My son named him Jackpot after the bait he caught his very first musky on. He lived a long great life & passed away a few years ago. Miss him everyday. |

| Our last lab got a hold of a Bondy Original out in the boat. He thought I was playing fetch. Was not something I want to experience again. |

| I see a lot of folks fishing with their dog, the dog patiently sitting and watching. Always wonder how you train a dog to do that. |

Lots and lots of repetition or a dog with a very low prey drive is my experience. |

So hunting dogs make bad boat dogs?
I know my nephew, who is hard core musky fisherman, found that to be true with his yellow lab. Dog is very well trained, well behaved on land. But, he could not break the dog from jumping overboard and going after a hooked musky. I was surprised because the dog followed every command on land but apparently none in the boat. |

| My last lab (she's gone now) would literally jump out of the boat every time I cast. She was not a good fishing partner. Great duck retriever though. |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Okay, So I names him Jake since I’ve boated many a musky on the 10” Jake. Here is a picture of his first boat ride. At 4 months old he was a champ in the boat. Heres to Jake, my new fishing partner.

I have a golden named Jackpot right now. Gonna be 7 in August. Terrible boat dog. Too good at retrieving. |
