Location: north central wisconsin | I think I posted about this last year, but we are finnally committing to a trip now. My wife and I are going on our honeymoon in march. We have found great deals in Punta Cana(Dominican republic) Jamaica and Puerta Vallarta(Pacific side of Mexico). We are trying to decide where to go, and we were wondering where the best fishing is, as that may sway our descision. Any help within the next 14 hours will really be great(we have to book tommorrow to get the good air fare). Thanks a million, Jason |

Location: Greenfield, WI | I'm going to Punta Cana at Easter. I have fished in the Bahamas, CanCun Mexico and both sides of Florida. Compared to our normal fresh water fishing, any saltwater fishing on its worst day down there far exceeds or best days fishing on fresh water!
Just try to get referals of any of your options. It isn't like you do this every day, so spend a little more money to get the better charter boats. Their equipment will be more functional, and theoretically they will be more knowledgable. |

| Of the places you listed, I've only fished Puerto Vallarta. I've fished there 2x in March had pretty poor luck--fun to be on the water, but really nothing to show for either trip. Once I hired the cheapest boat in the fleet, once the most expensive; we were able to fish more spots with the nicer, faster boat, but didn't catch any more fish and the boat and captain didn't have much "character". I always had much better luck off Florida. Having said that I hate almost everything but the fishing for a trip to FLA, and the reverse is true of my trips to PV (fishing sucked but everything else was great).
I love the town: not too "americanized" escept for one cheezy strip, but plenty clean and the people are friendly. I haven't been there for a few years, aside from some more construction, it doesn't sound like things have changed much.

Location: Greenfield, WI | I looked under www.puntacana.com, and found that most of the available website links were for marlin and sailfish. The rates started at $1200.00/day but there has to be something more reasonable.
If not my fishing might consist of "fishing for ice in my drink"!

| Go to Cancun!!! excellent billfishing and offshore fishing. You can keep the wife happy and busy and rent a jeep and drive 2 hours south to Punta Alen and fish ascension bay which is some of the best flyfishing in the planet for tarpon Bonefish and Permit.I have done this combination twice and did it on my honeymoon as well and you can do it on the cheap if you do it Properly.I have fished all over the place and this was in the top ten |
