MuskieE got himself a couple new hot baits. They're both made of High implastic plastic and have a great design. From the little I've tested, they work great. I myself have been making custom glide baits for awhile now, and I must say that I am impressed with these.

I gotta hand it to ya E, these are some great looking baits!!! Are they 100% solid plastic (including lead of course) or do they have air cavities in them?

Pat,Rightnow its a big secret!pictures dont lie!Ill have more information about them in a few weeks,Sorry just was trying to make you guys drool!

Line ties and anchors are molded into the plastic 1" deep some models are solid plastic and others with rattles are solid except for the rattle chambers.Ill have a few sawed in half to show, one that if someone can brake it with a hammer ill give them a free bait.

Eric, the baits look awesome can’t wait to see them in the water.

It looks like the baits in the picture have a heavy clear coat like Envirotex on them. One suggestion I would make is since the baits are solid plastic, offer some of those sweat looking color patterns with just a normal clear coat like Bucher, Maina and Lungen use. Yes the heavy clear coat looks awesome, but my experience hand painting a number of solid plastic baits is that when that heavy clear coat peels the color comes with it. The advantage of a plastic lure is you shouldn’t have to baby it like a wood bait.

Yes it will get scratched up from the hooks, teeth and rocks, but I think the color patterns will hold up better to a pounding with just a light clear coat, plus it will most likely also be quite a bit cheaper.

Will we be able to buy these bad boys before the season, because I am very interested.

I agree Frank! But it's just to simple to copy other lures and call it you NEW creation.

Editor's Note

I can think of about, let's see....NO absolutely new designs in about 10 years. Most of the designs in the lure world were thought out and built by someone many years ago, and the 'new' baits are improvements or variances. No reason to blast an innovator, any more than one would blast Cady's Wabull or Slammer's Drop Belly, or The Undertaker( I have a couple Crazy Gliders), or ANY bucktail, or the Pacemaker, Tallywhacker ( hmmm, looks like a bait I had in my antique collection from the 50's) or the Triple D or...you get the point. Bait shapes are pretty limited. What they are made from, the tooling involved, and the way they run will tell the story. I personally get pretty tired of lure companies deciding they OWN a design they actually copied from another design, which THEY copied from another, etc. Marketing and quality is the key, and those who  withstand the test of time can and will hold a fair section of the market.

There have been about a zillion 'new' baits out there all based on designs that were actually made in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Personally, I am glad to see them. Especially the Turd, my copy of a Heddon Vamp Flaptail. Care to be critical of me for building that bait? Blame the maker of the Snodlow, he wouldn't make more than one for me.

As a consumer, if this baits works as good as a Amma Bamma I say great. What makes these baits new is the fact they are PLASTIC. Because of that there should be more consistency between baits, not always true but better than wood. Also you can’t touch an Amma Bamma around here for less than $35. So if someone copies it in a cheaper more durable plastic version I won’t complain.

Realistically there isn’t much a lure designer can do to come up with a completely new bait concept and there is nothing wrong with taking a current design and making it better, if existing manufactures aren’t doing this it’s up to others to pick up the ball and run.

As a side note I have no idea how this bait compares to an Amma Bamma’s action as I have never seen this new glider in the water or in person, heck I don’t even know the size of it. I was just using the Amma Bamma as an example because Frank mentioned it.

Amma bamma ...GREAT!!Lets hypothetically say I can make a drop bellie out of plastic and can charge say $16.00 and works like and undertaker but looks like a amma bamma and its solid plastic, cool huh?,let me know ill be first in line!Wood baits get beet up hitting rocks and from fish, consistancy is 90% better in plastic than in wood.I guess pictures dont do justice but the few privilaged anglers that have thrown these will notice the shape and material propertys to set baits apart.

Mroberts to addresse you,im working with a lazer painter to burn colors into the plastic.Something new and high tech!looks tight, shinny!

Ill also take suggestions for bait designs if someone can come up a better idea.

EEEEE, Nice looking baits! What is the sink rate on those babies? Those are fantastic paint jobs I must say. That purple and gold one looks like a killer. I'm sure those baits will keep a few fish away from me this coming summer you lucky dog!
