I have only one. Fish more often in 2004.

What are your muskie resolutions for 2004?

I want to help my wife & oldest daughter catch their first muskies in 2004.
That along with catch a bigger muskie than I did last year are the only two goals I have set for myself this New Year.

I want to fish new waters with my kids and keep them catching fish. I hope to keep up with my past two years successes and maybe add another lake or two to my saturday fishing.

I also want to figure out how to post pictures so I can post here and sell on ebay.

I too, vow to fish more in '04. I also will make it a high priority to get my 8 year old nephew and 7 year old cousin bit by the musky bug. I want to add two or three lakes on to my "pet lake list".

Boating a fifty would be nice but its awfully hard to include that in a resolution list.

Resolutions:
(these are all allowing that I would stay SINGLE through 2004, if not, most will be heavily modified)

*65 days on the water for muskies
*20 days on the water for smallies and salmon
*35+ muskies in the boat
*10 over 40"
*First 50"
*troll more, and more scientifically.
*Dedicate more time to making MuskieFIRST the number 1 muskie focused website for all members, pros and contributors.

In light of the fact that these things have never come to fruition for me anyway, I hereby resolve to:

-gain a bunch of weight
-fish lots less
-work lots more
-quit anything resembling exercise
-stop taking family members fishing
-lose more fish boatside
-cease all of this figure 8 nonsense
-dull my hooks
-keep any and all fish I manage to catch
I'll probably throw a bunch of trash in the water too, but can't promise it.

Happy and productive New Year all!
K.

Fish more often, but here is the deal I plan to fish just as much as last year by myself and with my partner, my increase in fishing time is going to come from fishing with my kids (9 and 11). I think if I can get the kids out of the house, if just for a few hours, that might make the long fishing days a little more acceptable for the wife.

In terms of numbers of fish 15-20.

#1 To fish as often as I can and have fun.

#2 To get my wife her first over 40.

#3 Not to buy any more tackle that I won't use. (don't fall victim to the "I gotta have one" syndrom)

1) To spend more time this season fishing with "family only" so we can enjoy the boat together.

2) To "better my best" by even a half inch

3) To once again prove to my bassin family that there is more than one way to catch a musky (i.e. Trolling)

4) For my son and I to take some young people out who have rarely enjoyed a day of fishing. Imagine the smiles that 50+ silvers in a day will bring to a kid!

5) To meet more people from the "Musky First" board. Your experiences have all been a lot of fun to follow.

Hmmm, three big resolutions this year!!! 1) This year I will not yell at my fiance to net the low 50 inch fathead at boatside but calmly ask her to dip the net in the water and put the fish in the middle of it, for by muskie season this year she will be my wife.2) I will fish more with my dad!! He's the guy who started all of this for me and my brother Steve 30 plus years ago!!3) Remember to give back as much as I get out of this sport!!

Get my grandson his first Sabaskong Musky.
Fish locally instead of only in Canada.
Fish with Bob Pieske in Sabaskong.
Fish with some of the guys on this web site.
Have a mechanical problem free year.
Fish smarter, and more analytical, which will put more fish in the boat.

Fish with a couple more people from the board.

More and bigger fish, but that's always the obvious one.

Get my Dad out more, he hasn't caught a muskie in about 25 years.

Make the times work out more often to fish with someone else, not by  myself 99% of the time.

Get to Canada, but northern Minnesota might work if need be.

At least 3 trips to the "CHIP", learn a little more about it each time I'm there.

I'm going to keep doing what we have been doing for the past 8 years, fishing with my 4 boys, fishing as many different lakes as possible and just keep learning.

Landing muskie # 1000 is now in our sights.
