Location: Clintonville, WI | Extra $$$ to spend this off season, not extreme, but enough to make me quite happy by my standards.....
I am going to go with a new rod/reel combo or a whole bunch of baits. Strict budget limitations dictate that a St. Croix Premier/Daiwa CV-Z or St. Coix Avid/C3 would both work as they cost roughly the same. Have a Premier/CV-Z combo now and love it. Do not have an Avid yet.
The baits option is a distant third becasue I think like most of us, I could "settle" for what I have now.
I am leaning a certain way but am going to the various boards for feedback. What do you think gang?

| I'd go with the Avid/C3 combo simply on the grounds that I have 6 of those combos myself. You won't find a better rod, and if you don't spend a zillion hours on the water, the C3 is a great reel. Add to that the fact that both of those items have the best customer service people around right behind them.

Location: Racine, Wi | BigMo!!!! How's it going. I would go for the Avid/C3 combo. Get the 8 footer for toss'n the topraiders a mile or two up in Canada. You definitely don't need any more baits. You will have too many more to change to every 2 minutes on the water, and you don't want that do you;) Your other option is to get ME the Avid/C3 combo just because you're a nice guy.
See ya at the shows!

Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | another vote for the AVID/C3 Combo...even if you do spend oodles of time on the water, with a little regular and easy maintanence, you cant beat the Abu's. I am using all Premier St.Croix's now with C3's and will be adding an AVID or 2 to my arsenal next year.
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow hehe |

Location: Clintonville, WI | I'm with you Beav, T1 and GM. Thanks! An Avid w/C3 it is. I want to go with heavy and think I have that option in both 7'6" or 8'0" Avid.
T1, don't you worry about me and my "bait change-itis"....in fact, I'm working on a way that I might be able to hook myself up with the combo AND get some more baits.
GM, I'm waiting for a 100 year blizzard to hit one of the southern open waters so I can go fishing in my favorite weather pattern.
Hope you all had a great X-Mas and New Year. Chicago show is a no-go for me but Milwaukee and MN (Blaine) look to be a lock. See you guys this off season. |
