I hear the Ohia and Kentucky shows are off, also.
My prayers to those suffering in Muskie (and Musky) Country.
May I say, all this didn't have to get this bad. m

Well it's great if you're Canadian, you have it all to yourself this year.

Yeh, and they'll have it all to themselves next year as long as the sheep keep following their Kovid King.

OK, this is the new 'It's the Fish' argument, I guess.
Let's look at reality.
1) Science tells us this is with us for good like the other flu strains.
2) We locked down and then socially whatever we were supposed to to for a short while up here for months. Then the people showed up over the last couple holidays doing what people do in the US, businesses out of action opened simply because they had to to survive so we now are experiencing a spike. Businesses need revenue or they go away no matter political affiliation. Financial ruin is a strong motivator.
3) The role of our federal government by rule of law is not to force us to do what's best for us in this situation. Look it up. The State has very tough limits there as well, as has been borne out by State Supreme Court rulings. The municipalities have put in place 'soft' rulings pretty much discouraging this type of show enough to make it difficult to impossible to run one, and in the case of the WI and IL Muskie Expos, it came down to two issues...not enough people would attend, and it was our responsibility to our friends in the muskie world to to the right thing in part because of the difficulty if not impossibility of enforcement.
4) I don't give a crap what political party you belong to, by constitutional law, your party national leaders cannot tell me what I HAVE to do to take care to avoid this disease. Not because I'm all up in arms and a radical winger of any kind....because it's the law. So I do what this nation's founders intended, and take the necessary personal precautions to stay safe while hoping for the government (in this case Congress, they make the laws) to do what they can to make sure the country doesn't descend into chaos and economic collapse while we fast track to better treatment and a vaccine.
5) In short, it's correct to say this didn't have to be as bad, and it's also correct to say it could have been a whole lot worse. The vaccine will arrive and 50 to 60% of the US population may get one. People will continue to be sickened and some will die. The jury is still out if the population who are not vaccinated will take precautions during the next outbreak, whenever it may occur.

That's OFM's official editorial stance like it or not. As such, we will not allow this community to 'descend into chaos' either. R or D or I or C or S party, we're all muskie anglers, and need to be a unified community to make sure we keep the fisheries healthy and the sport alive and well.

So what can you do here to help? Offer what advice you wish for all of us to take care of ourselves if that's your gig, but remember, we all have the right to completely ignore it no matter how good or bad the advice might be.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And for the love of God, stop speeding and driving like you are possessed. The speed limits were arrived at to keep all of us safe, and are proven to be effective in saving thousands of lives a year. If the limit is 55, drive 55, not 62 because you know at 62 you won't get a ticket. If it's 70, what gives you the right to do 75?

See where I'm going with this?

I was born in Denver, great country out there. Lots of pony tails, rednecks, cowboys, left over hippies, mountains, Winter and Summer at the same time, and a couple big cities. Oddest state in the West that is not on the coast and a cool place to visit. Not enough fishing for my taste.

This is one of the reasons why the up north life is healthier than the lower rat race with an emphasis on race. You have someone from northern Wisconsin saying to drive 55 exactly and no one cares but anyone that has driven on Raceway 88, 90, or any of the other racetracks in northern Illinois knows #*^@ well you will be run directly off the road for driving exactly 70!!!! Seriously, even people driving 80 mph get pushed to the right lane by high beam flashing, horn honking, and combative hand gestures from psychopaths doing 90 and above. Geesh leave a little earlier people. I'm really surprised I don't see helmets, rollbars, and Nascar style numbers on the side of cars on those tracks. Lol

I-88 was always bad; but when Covid lockdown took hold and the traffic disappeared, there were a few people, not the majority, who decided there was no speed limit. It was CRAZY!

Except for stupid fishing for white bass sized stripers on Jackson nothing has impressed me out here, sterling, boyd and horsetooth average to small bass and walleye. Brought my boat it's been out 6 times with no motivation to take it out here again. Lots of pleasure boating on all lakes especially horsetooth and boyd are party lakes.
