Location: So. Illinois | I have a 10" straight believer I am having a problem with. I picked it up this fall with the intention of using it to troll. I tried using it on the deep eye and I have a problem with the lure consistently rolling to the surface. I can't keep it down. I troll betwen 4 and 6 MPH. I use a 4 to 6 ft mono 80lbs leader. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

| Try to determine which way it is rolling out. Bend the eye the opposite way a little, until it runs true. You will not have to bend it much. I've run 10" straights up to 6 MPH with no problem. Also, you can put a 1/4 oz bell sinker on the eye to keep the nose down. This will add some knocking, and help keep the nose down. I think Doug J has talked about this before. Look for that post. |

| I have found you will have this problem at any speed above 2.5 mph |

Location: On the Niagara River in Buffalo, NY | After making sure the pulleye is straight you may want to try this as well, add splitrings to each eye.Now you will also have a third setting to pull from.Using a big crosslock snap hook the deep and shallow pull eye splitrings together, you now have a more active intermediate depth setting!

Location: Holly, MI | Nice tip Capt. on having a third setting for a believer.
I have never had a believer not troll well. They hold more speed than most lures. The ten inchers pull like crazy at 6 mph! Try trolling a 10 inch believer without a rod holder, fights better than a 5lb smallie. |

Location: Kawartha Lakes, Ontario | I troll a lot of believers and i have never had a problem with them on the deep eye. However, I find that only about 50% of them will run true straight out of the box on the shallow eye. The ones that don't run well on the shallow eye will roll to the surface occasionally. As others have mentioned, you can bend the eye slightly to help it run true. |
