I got to take a couple fishing trips with my long-time buddy Mauser this year. He and I have fished together for abt 20 years, having met on MuskieFirst in the early days. For the last couple years, our trips have got me fish and him the netting honors.

Well, this year it turned around and I couldn't be more pleased. Our trip to northern Minnesota in June got Mauser his PB, and our recent trip to northern Wisconsin got him this one.
He fished good and hard for it, congrats! m

Nice job! Still remember talking to you southern boys at the 1st outing in Rhinelander. I still have the homemade bucktail that you or Mauser gave me on the day you were heading home.

That fish looks like the ones in the dark stained chain where I live. Was this the stained water you mentioned in an earlier post?

Kentuck. Water was much clearer there than Planting Ground (where I deftly removed my bucktail from the muskie's mouth upon hookset!), and Seven mile. Cold front kinda messed up our day on Seven Mile. Quite a frost the last couple mornings there. m

Planting Ground. Got my first musky there back in the late 1970s. Glad you guys had a good time in Packer Land.

I've been pounding Planting Ground, and Long all week.. Little to show this go around, but have had success in the past.

Real sorry we didn't get together, Steve. Mauser and I have discussed this: I have some health issues that make these long-drive trips more difficult each year. We hope next year to forego trips North and instead concentrate on several 3-4 day runs to West Virginia and Ohia waters. There's still a few fish around here we've not met yet. We'll see. It was otherwise a fun run this time, and an absolute honor to get to fish with Capt. Koepp again. m

Mikie, I would not have said that, last hillbilly who said that name made a few angry people.
