I have a couple of reel's that I need to get repaired and was hoping some of you "local" guys might suggest someone/place in my area.(Chicago/NW Burbs).
Thanks...

Coren's should be a good place. I know several shops send there stuff out to be done, possibly to Coren's, so this would be most direct. I know of one place south that does it but he closes down for the winter and guides down in Florida until the end of March. Action Bait on the southside, not a real good location but George does good work. He was trying to sell the place so that might make Coren's the only place...

A good place to send them if you do not mind mailing them is the Sportsman Repair in Mosinee Wisconsin. Chuck Brod is a great guy and very knowledgable. I dont have the address handy but he is on the internet.

I have heard good things about the service from Abu on the repair of their reels. How about Shimano's? Has anyone sent reels back to Shimano for repair? Also, How often are you guys having reels cleaned/repaired? Is this something you do every season?

Thanks

Shimano repair is excellent. They charge a flat $12 fee for cleaning & any parts needed. All I paid was shipping to them & the 12 dollar fee. They paid shipping back. They invoiced me after they sent back the reel. Check there web ste for details.
