Location: Northern Wisconsin | I was out the other day on Trout Lake in Vilas and about an hour before sunset there were fish busting the surface everywhere mid lake. I’m guessing these were whitefish or cisco? |

Listen to what Al Linder says about cisco's in this walleye video @~13:15, it applies to big muskies too.

| Hallowed grounds from when I first trekked to Vilas County as a boy in the 70s.. Still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Whether Trout was ever as good as its reputation I do not know. Remember my first time in Boulder Junction. The Vilas Co brochure I believe it was had the previous year's Musky Marathon winner on the front. A 46 lber out of Boulder Lake. First trip to Northern Highland Sports I saw a 28 lber in the cooler out of Oxbow Lake. All amazing at the time. Still is. Looks like they have an every other year stocking effort going on in Trout for muskies. Hope it is still good. |

Location: Miller time Wisconsin. | Just last week I caught a couple of lake trout on Trout lake in vilas co, they looked to me like any other lake trout, but I admitaly don't know.much about this species. Could you elaborate on the watered down strain. |

Location: Sycamore, IL | Eyesore- I believe he was referring to the muskies the DNR has been stocking into Trout lake not the Lake trout. The Lake Trout that are present in the lake are specific to the area and are not "watered down". Fun fish to target for sure! |
