My favorite is still the Gaelic Supreme used by Jacks Jigs. It's a 6/0 long shank ,super sharp(still need to touch up)and super strong.I'll still use shorter hooks, depending what plastic I'm using , but prefer a long shank on most. Steve

A guess that all depends then
Swimming-
Powerhead-
Weedless Basslike jig-

Steve W, you said you like to use spinnerbait trailer hooks, but isn't the hook-eye facing the wrong directing (horizontal, not vertical like it should be)?

Thanks,
MJB

I use a #410 Eagle claw in my weedless Jig. 5/8 oz and 1/2 oz use a 7/0 size with a long shank. The 3/8 oz has a 6/0 Mustad #32786 Black Nickel hook. Hope this helps.

I like the hook eye facing that way, one of the reasons I use those hooks. They are stainless, come out of the box very sharp, and hold a nedge for a long time.I have long shank 5/0, 6/0, and 7/0 in the 3/8 OZ, 1/2OZ, and 5/8OZ to 1/0 OZ jigs I make.

I have several styles I use. The real trick to finding out if a jig will hook up well is to place the hook tip and the eye on the palm of your hand. if you can pull the hook along your palm without it hooking immediately, the gap angle is incorrect.
