We started Sunday Night on a medium size lake in Vilas County and found 82 degree water temps. Pulled off and moved to large body of water and found 76 degree temps and were able to scratch out 4 fish in two days. Found all the fish directly adjacent to deeper basins. Produced two fish spot locking points working Bulldawgs and Swimin Dogs to deep water - counting down and working baits back to the points. Those fish were suspended over 20 to 25 FOW. Jakes produced fish in saddles between humps.
Water temp was over 80 by Wednesday nite so we went home early. Pic is best of 4

Nice work! Very hot here in Northern MN as well. Took a swim and it felt like bath water. I don’t know the Temps today but yesterday morning vermilion was 74. Should be pushing 80 right at the surface very soon. I think I’ll leave the fish alone. Too hot to be out there anyway.

I'll be swimming instead of chasing muskies this weekend.

I was hoping to get out tomorrow morning by 6 AM and probably fish 2 hrs before breakfast. But turns out all my leaders are at home since this would be my first time out this season. By the time i go get more it will probably be real hot even saturday or sunday mornIng.

Update: 75 degrees on a 500 acre lake this morning at 7 am. Lost a small bass and caught a 5" perch.

We did smallies one evening and found some fish on shady side of rubble humps. Crawfish green cranks to OK with 3 small fish on chugbugs on top of humps. I think the better fish have slide off to deeper water. Partner popped a nice eye on a 5" slammer

Got a call from a neighbor this morning that his fishing boat wouldn't start and he and his wife were stranded on the chain where we live. I hopped in my boat to give him a tow and was surprised that at 10:30 AM, surface temps were already over 80 degrees. Chain is shallow and dark stained so it does heat quickly but still a little surprising. Even in the channel/river where there is moving water it was 79-80. (Oneida County)

I find Bass in Vilas in the Summer on the shaded side of lakes a few hours before dark especially shorelines with steep hillsides. Once the shade hits the water about 10 feet out from shore till dark. I use a fast moving crankbait like a Chart. Minus 1 which wobbles a foot or two feet under the surface.
