Just wondering what you guys are using, im a blonde hair blue eyed northern european so sun does a number on me. ive got a couple of sun shirts that are from places ive bought lures from and they seem ok, but im wondering higher end stuff like Simms, blackfish, and Huk are worth buying. Im not averse to spending big for quality gear, if its going to be more comfortable and keep me from getting fried. I just dont know if its worth going for the top of the line simms gear buy once cry once, or if its just the name you're paying for

Check out AFTCO you can get some pretty good deals on last years styles. I would also recommend getting a couple shirts with the hoods

I just discovered them yesterday as well, they appear to have quality stuff as well. I have one hooded shirt already and i definitely seem to prefer them.

tried a lot of them. For sun hoodies, I prefer the patagonia stuff because it runs cooler, doesn't smell, and is super durable. It doesn't stop mosquitoes though so I use the simms bugstopper when it's not too hot out (it's warmer than the Patagonia stuff). I usually buy my stuff in the offseason for 30-40% off and am the point where I won't even look at another brand of sun shirt because these are so good.

Pants - I use Eddie Bauer Guide Pro's. Bought them for hiking in the SW, but found they breathe well enough for long days under the hot sun.

I really like Simms, but Blackfish and HUK are close second. The hooded shirts are the way to go.

Try one of the full wrap around full brim Panama style hats,,with the air vents on the side of the hat all the way around,,you won't believe how cool those vents keep your head.
Columbia products just plain work too,,just not a new trendy name.

To keep my faces and ears from getting singed by the sun I prefer sun screen and a wide brimmed hat (tried the sun hoodies but didn't like them). Given my hat size is beyond the upper range of "one size fits most" I did some research and bought a vented hat from Tilley. They're pricey but this hat has held up very well.

thats guys for all the replies, im gonna look into the patagonia stuff, i like the light weight stuff ,I have a "koofin" brand from amazon that is super light weight that i like, but i like to try a variety before i invest in a complete set. I do like that simms seems to have sort of a "system" for all seasons. My hunting gear is all first lite, and it all works together, no sizing up, find the size underlayer you wear, and buy that size in every piece and it layers together perfect, but they dont make fishing stuff

Just an old Gander Mountain long sleeve button up sun shirt, or a long sleeve Columbia tee (got a couple on sale 18 bucks) and for the head a simple bucket hat or wide brim solar hat got at Costco or baseball type hat I got in Kona HI. left over from Triathelon (sp) with a bandera hanging down for your neck. And a pair of Ocean waves to keep the reds out of blues. (yes i'm blue eyed)

Simms all day. Have some Guy Harvey shirts and Hook and Tackle as well. All are good, but Simms gets the nod first.

I’ve found the under armour iso-chill UPF fishing hoodies to be a solid value. I was wearing them last weekend in the
Crazy heat without complaints.

Habit brand from Sam's Club. UPF T shirts, hoodies, and long & short sleeve button up shirts for &16 to $20. Doesn't have a cool logo with intertwined fish hooks, but pretty dang affordable.

Simms hooded shirts are the way to go when its super sunny. Wear a visor with it and the hood will shade your face as well as one of those silly buffs.

Shirts pretty well covered i think, how about pants? If not wearing shorts i often wear medical ‘scubs’ cause light, cool, cheap and store easily in the boat.Sadly left mine in Canada so went to a medical uniform store today and WOW have uniforms changed. Fantastic ‘scrubs’ available now that actually fit well, have numerous pockets, are light and cool and still relatively cheap. Sweet!!!

I have a pair of the Columbia nylon pants with zip off lower legs, lots of pockets. Very light weight, dry quickly if they get wet. I wear them fishing, kayaking, hiking.

I wear whatever I don’t mind getting fish slime and blood on. I prefer very thin cotton shirts and pants to synthetic because I feel they breathe better, and still dry out quickly. I am a redhead and I never get sumburnt through cotton, no UPF rating needed....

Last year I was looking for an alternative to shorts, for fishing in warm weather, as I wanted to protect the general public from my pasty white, old man legs. I was in Joe's Sporting Goods, and found a pair of fishing pants from some brand I had never heard of, and gave them a shot. I am extremely happy with them. They are very comfortable and seam quite well made. Easy to move around in, and dry quickly. Have great pockets, and breathe very well. As a bonus, don't look half bad either. Brand name is Kuhl. Don't know what model they are.
