Any suggestions on whether leech or cass is better this time of year? Are the fish still in the weeds?

Location: Duluth		Was on Cass last weekend, fish certainly weren't in weeds. Open water bite

Location: Royalton, MN		I got a follow from a mid-40s on a bucktail in the weeds of Allen's Bay of Cass yesterday, but didn't catch anything. Struggled badly the prior two days on Leech, with a pair of follows from small musky and landed three small 20-something-inch musky in the weeds along with a bunch of ratty annoying pike. Great weather, good fishing, but poor catching.

I've heard Leech doesn't get good until late-July. Not sure if that's true. The guide I talked to said my experience mirrors his lately.
